Haha. And new Vincent Gallo.
Part of the reason that, despite the absence of Ruiz in the Venice festival, I'm tempted to say it looks more promising than TIFF.

Better have deep pockets if you plan on attending. Beyond the price of actually getting to Venice, these are the prices of tickets:
• TICKET PRICES
Sala Grande
11 a.m. € 12
3 p.m. € 12
5 p.m € 15
7:30 p.m. € 40
10 p.m. € 30
midnight € 15
Don't even bother with the other options, you can't afford it.
Passes for the Sala Grande
For films screening in the Venezia 67, Out of Competition, Orizzonti and Controcampo Italiano sections:
afternoon € 150
evening 1:
stalls € 450
balcony € 1.400
evening 2: € 280
midnight € 60
I wonder if they screen anything on St. Mark's Square. That would be unbelievable.

Think if you spend the money to go to Venice there are much better things you could be doing with your time than watching a bunch of movies.

Agreed. And I'll bet you'll get lost in your search for the theater anyway.

New films by Vincent Gallo, Pablo Larra*n, and Tran Anh Hung: Fuck yeah!
New film by Sofia Coppola: Marie Antoinette was on my top ten for the decade, but I'm still not convinced it just wasn't some kind of magnificent fluke.

New films by... Tran Anh Hung: Fuck yeah!Maybe you should see his previous film before getting all pumped for this one. My excitement for a new Tran film has dwindled.

Have you not The Scent of Green Papaya? It's equally amazing.
At least Norwegian Wood isn't in English. I wonder if that was part of the problem with I Come With the Rain, along with having Josh Hartnett in the lead.

Machete is the opening night Midnight movie.
I love I Come With the Rain. An extremely beautiful mess, I think.

I love I Come With the Rain. An extremely beautiful mess, I think.Ugh. Yes, I suppose it's beautiful, but it's also pretty close to incoherent. And the acting! The fact that Hartnett does perhaps the best work in the film, speaks volumes. Of course I did say this about the film:
As I said in its thread, this is the type of film that some people will love, and this love will leave me wondering "How?"
So I guess I wasn't too far off.

WTF? Hong Sang-Soo just had a movie premiere at Cannes in May (a good one, btw). Slow down, dude.
Don't forget Skolimowski's Essential Killing, which is in the main competition too.
