While this thread will no doubt be riddled with Criterions, I was actually inspired to make this by the release of new DVD artwork for a 50th Anniversary Edition of 12 Angry Men, which is being released on March 4th.

This is the art...

I thought it was quite a nice, simple design.

So, people, share your favorite DVD covers.

I've always been quite fond of this one.

That is really great, Antoine.

Is the movie any good?

I'm afraid I haven't seen it... I fear it won't live up to its cover.

I guess somebody might as well start doing the Criterions.

The LA COMMARE SECCA cover is outstanding.

The 12 Angry Men is simple but a bit too literal.

I think Pickup on South Street is my favourite Criterion cover, just stunning.

Always been quite partial to the Throne of Blood cover.

It's amazing to see the radical differences which often occur between Canadian and American DVD covers. Here are a couple of examples...

The Pianist

Canada

Ginger Snaps

Canada often gets better cover art than America. I remember your Far From Heaven cover being better than ours. However, in what you posted, this is the only one I found between both American and Canadian releases that was remotely appealing.

That's right. I find the Canadian edition to be in far better taste. It isn't necessarily the best it could be, but I found the American cover particularly irritating in that almost every single disc Universal released that summer looked exactly the same (see The Pianist, above).

Not beautiful, but Jim Emerson points out (http://blogs.suntimes.com/scanners/2007/12/once_revised.html) the ridiculous rebranding attempted by the US Once DVD cover.

I think that may be a totally different guy, with the original guy's face photoshopped on. At the very least, it's two completely different pictures of the same person.
