Welcome to the typically late Month entry, this time re-focusing on John Ford's work. I pity the person who'll compile this massive list. :|
Spinal? Wanna do a list? :pritch:

Definitely going to try and catch up with some more of his films these next few weeks (we are going to extend this, right?). There are a few on Netflix Instant Watch that I'm particularly interested in.

I also just discovered that Mister Roberts (apparently co-directed by Mervyn Le Roy) is on TCM today as well.

7 Women I'll second this recommendation. Talk about a buried, underrated gem.

Just watched Wagon Master, hopefully a start to my belated Ford kick (I've seen most of his major films, but that was ages ago). I began with this one since Kent Jones had it in his Sight & Sound top ten of all time, and though I imagine it plays better for the Ford-aversed, it's still pretty great; almost weirdly plotless, and more of a showcase for the spectacle of a vast bunch of disparate types - whores, mormons, thieves, etc - interacting together. There's a real poetry to the lingering closeups on the actors' faces during their reaction shots, of which there are many. A prototypical termite art film, and one I'd like to revisit some day (esp. since the VHS copy I watched was lousy as fuck and the cropping severely diminished the compositons, rendered the dialogue unintelligible, etc etc).

Why do I always think I've seen more of his films than I really have?
I think it's just that I've seen bits and pieces of his other stuff.
