I was watching bits and pieces of that Bring it On sequel at work tonight. I... have no speech.

Also, worst DVD week of the year?

I'll be buying Once and I'll rent Stardust and The Simpsons Movie.

Part of me is really tempted to watch Underdog. This is the part of me that hates myself the most.

I'd like to see Once.

Part of me is really tempted to watch Underdog. This is the part of me that hates myself the most. Same. Ever since the first poster I've thought everything about the production was hilarious. Yet, somehow I doubt it would be enjoyable over the course of a whole movie. Or for even five minutes of a movie. Then again, the tagline is "Saving the world one paw at a time." It doesn't even kind of make sense! It's brilliant.

I may check out Alien Apocalypse.

Also, worst DVD week of the year?

Are you joking?

Are you joking?

Yeah, that is utter nonsense. Blade Runner, Once and Clone High alone makes it awesome. Then you add those two Bruce Campbell movies (which I liked) and Simpsons, how the fuck is it worse than those weeks when there are only no-name B-movies and concert DVDs?

I'm so renting Hatchet. I'm dying to see it.

DSNT

I'm definitely going to rent the Simpsons flick. Might rent Stardust, but still on the fence.

Nobody else is interested in Deep Water?

Otherwise:

Blade Runner (I'd like to see the new cut)
Stardust (re)
Once (re)
Halloween (director's cut)
Hatchet

You worst-DVD-week-of-the-year people are ridiculous.

No week that includes Once can possibly be the worst. Does not compute.

I'll be watching The Simpsons Movie with my wife, who hasn't seen it yet. I'm interested to see how it holds up in a second viewing. I'll also watch Once and Blade Runner in the near future.

Watashi

Blade Runner alone makes it the best week.

Cinderella II merited a Special Edition release? Eh?

I lean towards the "worst" myself.

Or they have shitty memory.

Or they have shitty memory. For me, it's a given there will be one or two "big" releases that will pique my interest (or if not me, than others), but most weeks there is also one or two or more in the second half of the list that catches my eye as well. But really, this week there's nary a foreign release, no indies, not a thing. And that's why I'd say this week is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Uh, Once is an independent foreign film.

Uh, Once is an independent foreign film. Yes, but I think most people would consider it a major DVD release. Or at least a highly anticipated one.

It's a completely meh-ltiplex week. There's just good films that I don't care to see again (Once and The Simpsons Movie), I like Blade Runner but I'm not a diehard fan, ditto The Evil Dead, ditto Bruce Campbell, etc...

I have a mild interest in Halloween and Deep Water, and that's it.

You're definitely right about this week's depth. It was much shorter than usual, and I had to go much further than usual in order to find releases worth listing. Most weeks I'll find a couple nice underground foreigns, or maybe some nice classic movies finally in release that won't be among the mainstream titles.

It's always like that the week before Christmas. Usually a few big movies and millions of exercise titles.

Once and halloween. I'm sorta curious about Stardust but pretty sure I wouldn't like it.

How come?
I generally don't like most Fantasy movies. It seems to be more comedic and aware of itself though, in a Princess Bride way, but I haven't heard anyone give it more then a "eh."

It may be a bit aware of itself, but compared to the excessively self-aware The Princess Bride, it is played relatively straight. Thankfully.

I'd give Stardust an "eh", but it's probably the best damn "eh" film I've seen all year.

I'd give Stardust an "eh", but it's probably the best damn "eh" film I've seen all year.I can see calling it an "eh" film in the sense that it isn't really "about" much of anything. On its own terms however, I think it's delightful.

I've been looking forward to this release since, well, since I bought a DVD player. And finally, Tuesday, it shall be mine!

Also, I'll be watching Hatchet in the not-too-distant future. I have it on good one that it's a fun, gleefully gory horror flick.

Is anyone else planning on taking their Blade Runner briefcase to work with them? I think I'll pack a lunch in there just to get some practical use out of it.

Hey, that's a good idea!
