I loved Step Brothers, I thought Talladega Nights was OK, and liked Anchorman.
But Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg?? YES! thank god John C. Reilly isn't in this one.
Watch the Animated One Sheet. This looks funny (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/other-guys-motion-poster.html).

Um... John C. Reilly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mark Wahlberg
But I'll still look forward to this. Who knows, maybe broad comedy is something Wahlberg is good at.

Mark Whalberg displayed an uncanny knack for comedy in his I Heart Huckabees performance. Adam McKay made my favorite American comedy-comedy of the aughts. Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Coogan, and Dwayne "HOLY FUCK I'VE GOT ROCKING EYEBROWS" Johnson are also in the cast.
I'm pretty excited about this thing.

Also, animated one-sheet WTF.
I Heart Mark Wahlberg. He's one of my favorites, I think. Not necessarily thespiatically, but I love his presence. The way he carries himself. It puts me at ease. Funny bit there.

Ok, despite my overall indifference to I♥H, you've reminded me that it's probably the thing I've most enjoyed him in. In terms of more serious stuff... I guess he wasn't distracting in Four Brothers.
Also, I was surprised to see that this is the first of McKay's films that he didn't write with Ferrell. Not that everything he does has to be with him to have the same sort of loose, improv-friendly sort of script (often centering around a guy with the initials "RB"), it'll just be interesting to see how things may be noticeably different, especially with mostly non-comedians in major roles.

Yeah this looks quite funny. And I Heart Huckabees proved that Wahlberg could do comedy. This movie's cast, plus the fact I'm a fan of Ferrell, means I'm in.

Remind me how you liked the other Ferrell-McKay collabs, 8?

I thought this was absolutely hilarious. I haven't seen Anchorman in full since theatres, but I'd say this is the best Ferrell/McKay one next to that.
Steve Coogan needs to start playing better characters in big American comedies though. Most of the stuff involving him -- like, you know, the actual plot -- kinda brings the movie down and doesn't mesh well with the comedy, especially in the last quarter. Also, even though it's to be expected from all the improv-y stuff they and Apatow have done in recent years, it's definitely one of those "lots of stuff in the trailers that aren't in the movie" deals with even some great stuff from the Comic-Con reel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9lPdOTTuPE) left out.
But still, even with whatever things I could pick at it for, I loved it. Definitely the funniest movie so far this year.

I love all three prior McKay films, but this is just... not funny. Visually, it captures the 70's buddy cop aesthetics perfectly, but a lot of the running jokes and supporting cast fall flat (Keaton sticks out being the most wasted). I miss the random off-the-wall humor from McKay's previous films. This really needed to be rated R.

I'd agree that this is the funniest film I've seen so far this year.
There are a number of times when there are noticeable lulls in the laughs. They're pretty brief lulls, but they're persistent. Also, the look of the film is really washed out in a number of spots.
However, the rest of this is gold. A big improvement on Step Brothers, which at this point I hope was an aberration. I was spoiled by Ian Pugh's review about what happened about 20 minutes in, but it's still hilarious and audacious when it does happen. The absolute bizarre stuff out of left field is back and there's a number of very memorable one-liners.
Such as..."I feel like we're riding in a vagina."
"We found your Prius. It was voting for Ralph Nader."
"We were going to do a Chechynian Dora the Explorer. It went horribly wrong."

I enjoyed the flick. Not amazing, and certainly not as riotously anarchic as McKay's previous films, but when it's funny, it's damn funny, and its broad swipe at corporate mismanagement is a nice break from cop movies about drug cartels.
Needed more Keaton.

I barely remember a memorable funny scene... Maybe Ferrell's fish speech. Wahlberg and Ferrell do not mix well.

The opening of this movie was pretty much perfect.
The part where Jackson and Johnson jump to their deaths was soooooooo perfectly funny.
The third act was a bit weak. Some jokes worked better than others. It's not Talladega Nights, but I liked it a lot.

This was pretty bad. In terms of 'out-of-nowhere deaths of top-billed stars in a funny action movie,' MacGruber has this beat by like a thousand times over. It also has it beat in all other terms.

Very much agreed with your spoiler text. That was the highlight of the film for me.
I laughed through their entire funeral because of that jump.
The rest of the film had it's ups and downs but ultimately I enjoyed it.

There goes my hero...
Bah
Boner got my hopes up, but this was bad. To paraphrase Mike D'Angelo's feelings on late period Godard: Post-Anchorman McKay utilizes a mode of discourse that I find increasingly useless. It's like he and Ferrell would probably be hilarious to hang out with but, for whatever reason, that same sensibility just comes off tiring to me in their movies. Somebody at least tell these guys that talking louder doesn't = more funnier

Yeah, this is pretty weak, and I attribute most of it to Wahlberg. He's not one of McKay's comedy. Well, neither is Mendes. Seemed too forced, and well, not funny. Someone like Anne Hathaway could pull that off right.
Bummer.
The part with The Rock/SLJ is pretty good though. Too bad that's ten minutes in of a 2 hour movie.
