Obviously this one should be titled:

The Second Final Destination In 3D
The Most Recent 3D Final Destination Movie
or
Oh, What's This? Another Final Destination In 3D But Maybe Not The Last Either!

They could always rationalize the title of the last one as if it was supposed to have read like "The Final Destination [That Is] In 3D"... But they didn't, because they are as smart as the people who didn't pay to see it just because of its title.

Steven Quale is directing, as far as I can tell, this will be his first film. He helped Cameron direct Aliens of the Deep (which I actually did see and it was quite good) and assistant directed Avatar (whatever an assistant director does).

Casting includes a bunch of nobodies (http://www.fearnet.com/news/b19904_first_casting_annouceme nts_final.html?utm_source=fear net&utm_medium=rssfeeds&utm_campaign=rss_news).

Also, could a mod please change the thread title to it's correct name;

Yup. So whenever someone posts in this thread we can see "5nal" when browsing the main forum directory.

This has nothing to do with the movie (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?articleid=1279747&srvc=rss), but doesn't it read like a scene in a Final Destination??

A water hose hooked up to a fire hydrant from a fire truck already on scene got caught between the wheels of the second fire truck and wrapped around the truck axle, said city spokesman Michael Meehan.

The hose then broke free from the hydrant, snapped a street sign, ripped through a chain-link fence and struck a street cleaning sign which hit a male bystander

Unlike the Saw series, which I'm glad to see ending, I'm completely indifferent to the Final Destination movies. Only to me they are slasher films without a slasher involved. Just Death, who apparently has way too much goddamn time on his hands considering the elaborate kills that happen in the series.

Dukefrukem

Tony Todd as "Bludworth". When asked what to expect from the upcoming Final Destination 5 Todd told Dread Central, "Thumbs up! Thumbs way up. They expanded my part, and the producer told me as we were leaving Vancouver that if it opens at Number 1 which statistically it has theyre going to shoot the next two simultaneously."

yay?

Man, I'm totally confused.

Is this thread about 5nal Destination, or a different Final Destination 5? The title is misleading, and causing my to become confused. If only there was some way to rectify this situation.

The first 50 seconds is 1 death... and they only suggest 2 other deaths in the trailer (not including the one after the title screen at the 1:35 mark). So it's a pretty safe trailer if you stop watching at the title.

I agree the last movie trailer spoiled a lot, but this one appears to be put together much better.,

It was also the first movie I ever walked out of in the theater.

No it doesn't but it's just the idea/thought of it could lead to other things. I was just trying to get KF to watch it but he sounds convinced of avoiding it, which I don't blame him.

I like the opening to this trailer A LOT. It's something I've always worried about.

Yeah, I'm going to avoid the trailer anyway. I appreciate you letting me know it doesn't reveal much, but I'll rent it no matter what, so I'd rather go in completely blind.

The big accident in this one seems really uninspired.

You go from roller coaster derailing to NASCAR pile-up to a bridge collapsing? Come on. Make it a giraffe stampede, or something.

They skipped over the most obvious one. Train Derailment. (which is sorta like the roller coaster but would probably require more FX)

Yeh the bridge collapse is too similar to the highway pileup.

Not a total waste. Predictably, the opening disaster is pretty effective with strong FX work and there's a potentially intriguing idea that sadly veers off into ridiculous country. To kill another is to live yourself. When the Tom Cruise lookalike was attempting to push that unknown girl in front of a truck, I saw potential, but when he turned on his friends, which makes little sense, there was groaning.

The deaths are naturally the highlight, tension is actually build skillfully - espesh for the first victim - but the resolution for nearly all of them was sort of exagerated. I get that death has a way of getting what it wants, but when one of the girls survives a laser to her skull, then trips over the miniscule nose of a teddy bear and somehow loses here balance to the extend that she crashes through a window and plummets to the death it sorta stops being clever but turns preposterous.

The 3D wasn't bad at all and just when I thought the movie was headed for a sizzler of a finale, it got kinda unexpectedly clever one last time. the plane on which the two "survivors" depart for France is the plane from the first movie indicating this movie is a prequel of sorts. The other survivor, who is on terra firma believes he's safe since he sort of managed to kill one of his colleagues and thus regain life except he didn't really because the colleague was terminally ill. Doesn't count says death and so he's killed when half of the same plane just crashes on the exact spot where he's standing. Preposterous of course, but I can sort of appreciate that kind of nonsense.

Although it begs the question: Why does Tony Todd say that he's had experience with this kinda stuff when in fact this movie seems to be set in 2000?

EDIT: can we move this thread? Thanks!

Agree here, both movies are bad but 4 took it to a new level of suck. I always wondered why they went from the next possible disaster; A Train Wreck to a roller coaster crash? Cheaper maybe.

The bridge setpiece was probably pretty expensive in 5 though. So I hope they make a 6 & 7, which apparently they want to shoot back to back.

Part 3 was the roller coaster. 4 was the racetrack.

My biggest problem with 3 was how they just seemed to give up trying anything new with the idea. It was so by-the-numbers that it ended up being a predictable bore. At least they attempted something new (a second premonition) with the 4th. It didn't really work, but I commend them for trying.

Sorry I was unclear.

I meant the next logical disaster should have been a train wreck.

1. Plane Crash
2. Car Crash
3. Train Crash but they went Roller Coaster instead.

I'd like to see a Train Crash (maybe commuter train so they have the option to get off at a certain stop) or Boat Sink or as they are pulling away on a cruise. Think of all the things in the harbor that could go wrong with cranes, tug boats, etc.

I'd kinda like them to just end it, at least for now. Besides the film concluding the series on a relatively strong note, its ending brings the cycle full-circle in a manner I found very satisfying, and dare I say, almost poetic.

Honestly, out of all the franchises I've seen, FD is one that I'm fine with continuing. Even the bad ones have a moment or two that make me giggle.

I would really like to see them take more chances with the formula, though.
