Liked both, but didn't get a huge impression from either. She was there for Q&A during 35 Rhums and she seems like a very cool lady.

A lot of the ratings in this thread bring to mind the voice of Enid in Ghost World. "Everyone's too stupid!"

Fix your Trouble Every Day rating, then we can talk.
By the way, I rewatched Magnolia a few days ago and suddenly understood everybody's criticisms of it: too much histrionics in place of real character development, too many cutesy touches and hitting-the-audience-over-the-head moments, overall somewhat sloppy thematics, and a lack of the kind of singular formal styles that Anderson brought to his next two films. I still think it's great, mostly because of the romance, Cruise's character, and the frogs, but it fell about 100 spots on my list of favorites, so I can sorta see why you dislike it now.

I'm certain Trouble Every Day's rating will rise on a second viewing. It was my 2nd of hers I saw after Friday Night, and I remember finding it perplexing. I love Beatrice Dalle in it, though... ranks alongside Adjani in Possession in the pantheon of fearlessly feral performances from French babes.

Yeah, she's awesome, especially in the scene where she has sex with—and kills and eats—the young guy who broke into her house.

Some sneaky projectionist should edit that scene into the middle of the next Twilight movie IMO.

EDIT: dreamdead, why the 7.5 for L'Intrus, when you once had it in your top 100?
Between your reaction, others' similar reactions, and the fact that I scarcely remember the film's plot but only retain several (albeit pristine) images, I've been left to deduce that the film's incredibly tactile textures work for me, but that I'm much less won in by the narrative here. Though I see why ReverseShot would valorize it as much as they have, #7 of the decade (http://reverseshot.com/article/7_lintrus) for them, I don't remember many of those moments the way that I remember the films that I truly treasure. As such, I've tempered my appreciation for that one and decided to rhapsodize over the more traditionally acceptable Beau Travail instead.
Dance-off > no dance-off.

I'm surprised to see some low numbers for Beau Travail; I would have guessed that one was universally loved (by film buffs, of course). Learn something every day...
Where should I start?
Nenette et Boni.
Edited to add: Nenette et Boni has more of her trademark style than Chocolat, and it's a very accessible story.

Off-topic, but...
I think all the stylistic excesses, meta moments and sloppy execution in Magnolia are necessary, for PT Anderson is like Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, he has so much love to give he doesn't know where to put it. Anderson's love for cinema, for his characters, for life is so intense that it can't be contained in narrative strands, it can barely be contained in the frames, it seeps through the screen and overwhelms me every time I watch it.
Magnolia is bunk
