Artist: Mew

Mew is a Danish alternative music band consisting of Jonas Bjerre, Bo Madsen, and Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen. Bassist Johan Wohlert was also a founding member of the band, but left in 2006. Whilst their music may be classified as indie and on occasion (like on And the Glass Handed Kites) progressive rock, they sometimes humorously refer to it themselves as "pretentious art rock". The band's guitarist Bo Madsen refers to the band as "the world's only indie stadium band".

Artist: Morrissey

Steven Patrick Morrissey, known primarily as Morrissey, is a British singer and songwriter. After a short stint in the punk rock band The Nosebleeds in the late 1970s, he rose to prominence in the 1980s as the lyricist and vocalist of the alternative rock band The Smiths. After the band's breakup in 1987, Morrissey began a solo career, in which he continued the indie pop sound of The Smiths. Widely regarded as an important innovator in indie music, Morrissey has been described by music magazine NME as "one of the most influential artists ever," and The Independent has stated that "most pop stars have to be dead before they reach the iconic status that he has reached in his lifetime." Morrissey's sardonic, literate lyrics tend to be "dramatic...bleak, funny vignettes about doomed relationships, lonely nightclubs, the burden of the past and the prison of the home." His forthright, often contrarian opinions have led to a number of media controversies, and he has also attracted media attention for his advocacy of vegetarianism and animal rights.

Walk This Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B_UYYPb-Gk)

Artist: Run-DMC and Aerosmith

Run–D.M.C. was a hip hop group from Hollis, in the Queens borough of New York City. Founded by Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell, the group is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop. They were the biggest act in hip-hop throughout the 1980s and are credited with breaking hip hop into mainstream music. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked them number 48 in their list of the greatest musical artists of all time. In 2007, the trio was named Greatest Hip Hop Group of All Time by MTV.com. They were also named Greatest Hip Hop Artist of All Time by VH1. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 4, 2009, the second hip-hop group to be inducted, after Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. Following the success of Notorious, it has been announced that a Run-D.M.C. biopic is in production. The film is rumored to depict the life and story of the group beginning from their inception in Hollis, Queens, and leading up to the 2002 murder of Jam Master Jay.

Aerosmith is an American hard rock band. Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton met up with singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with Toys in the Attic. By the end of the 1970s, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world. However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which resulted in the departures of Perry and Whitford, in 1979 and 1981 respectively. Although Perry and Whitford returned in 1984 and the band signed a new deal with Geffen Records, it wasn't until the band sobered up and released 1987's Permanent Vacation that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, four Grammy Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

MORRISSEY!

Awesome story (copy-paste from email): The best present I got this season was from Kristen. So there's this video: Morrissey's November Spawned a Monster. It is one of my absolute favorite videos. Here it is (watch the whole thing!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv8LdKp2Y-8

There is a part of the video at 3:38 in which he is blowing on a chocolate bar as though it is a harmonica. Kristen commissioned an artist friend to create this splendid artwork for me:

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o283/bluemovers/moz_web.jpg

The chocolate in the jpg there is incomplete: in the final work, it is shaded with pastels. So amazing. So amazing. Words fail me. It may be the best present I've ever received.

I Want You Back/ABC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY-HE1NKdkk)

Artist: The Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 is an American popular music family group from Gary, Indiana. Founding group members Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael formed the group after performing in an early incarnation called The Jackson Brothers, which originally consisted of a trio of the three older brothers. Active from 1964 to 1989, the Jacksons played from a repertoire of R&B, soul, pop and later disco. During their six and a half-year Motown tenure, The Jackson 5 were one of the biggest pop-music phenomena of the 1970s, and the band served as the launching pad for the solo careers of their lead singers Jermaine and Michael, the latter brother later transforming his early Motown solo fame into greater success as an adult artist. The Jackson 5 were the first act in recording history to have their first four major label singles ("I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There") reach the top of the American charts. Significantly, they were the first black teen idols to appeal equally to white audiences thanks partially to the successful promotional relations skills of Motown Records CEO Berry Gordy.

Artist: Devo

Devo is an American band associated most often with the New Wave music scene formed in Akron, Ohio in 1973. While they are best known for their 1980 hit "Whip It", which made it to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the band has succesfully maintained a cult following since early in their career. Their style over time has shifted variously between punk, art rock, post-punk, and New Wave. Devo's music and stage show mingle kitsch science fiction themes, deadpan surrealist humor, and mordantly satirical social commentary via sometimes-discordant pop songs that often feature unusual synthetic instrumentation and time signatures, and their work has proved hugely influential on subsequent popular music, particularly New Wave, industrial and alternative rock artists.

Artist: Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses is an American rock band. The band formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band, led by frontman and co-founder Axl Rose, has gone through numerous line-up changes and controversies since its formation. The band has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, including over 46 million in the United States. The band's 1987 major label debut album Appetite for Destruction has sold in excess of 28 million copies worldwide and reached number one on the United States Billboard 200. In addition, the album charted three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Sweet Child o' Mine" which reached number one. The 1991 albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted on the two highest spots on the Billboard 200 and have sold a combined 14 million copies in the United States alone and 35 million worldwide. After over a decade of work, the band released their follow-up album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008. Their mid-to-late eighties and early nineties years have been described by individuals in the music industry as the period in which "they brought forth a hedonistic rebelliousness and revived the punk attitude-driven hard rock scene, reminiscent of the early Rolling Stones."

Beautiful Liar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrOe2h9RtWI)

Artist: Beyonce and Shakira

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, actress and model. Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child. According to Sony, Knowles record sales, when combined with the group, have surpassed 100 million. During the hiatus of Destiny's Child, Knowles released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love (2003), which became one of the most successful albums of that year, and signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success: her sophomore solo album, B'Day, released in 2006, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and earned her 10 Grammy Awards nominations.

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer and philanthropist who emerged as a musical prodigy in the music scene of Latin America in the early 1990s. After commercial flops with local producers on her first two albums, and little-known outside Colombia, Shakira decided to produce her own brand of music. In 2001, and aided by heavy promotion of the music video, "Whenever, Wherever", she broke through into the English-speaking world with the release of Laundry Service, which sold over thirteen million copies worldwide. From October-November 2009 Shakira released her latest album She Wolf worldwide. She has won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, and has been Golden Globe-nominated.

Move Your Feet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfqL7bwx9fs)

Artist: Junior Senior

Junior Senior was a pop musical duo from Denmark. The duo consisted of Jesper "Junior" Mortensen (vocals, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards) and Jeppe "Senior" Laursen (vocals, keyboards, programming). The band released their debut album D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat in 2003. The first single, "Move Your Feet", was one of the most played songs on Danish radio and eventually climbed the charts in over thirteen countries, including the United States, Australia, France, the United Kingdom and Denmark. D-D-Don't Stop the Beat was included in several publications' "Best Albums of 2003" lists, including Rolling Stone, NME, Entertainment Weekly and Blender. The Sunday Chronicle in San Francisco rated "Move your Feet" as the single of the year, calling it "the best song ever." in 2008, Mortensen and Laursen announced on their blog that they would split and pursue solo projects.

Kim and Jessie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9yvItZAjfY)

Artist: M83

M83 is an electronic/dream pop act by French musician Anthony Gonzalez. It is named after a spiral galaxy, Messier 83. The band was founded in 2001 by Gonzalez and former member Nicolas Fromageau in Antibes. The musical style of M83 owes something to the shoegazing genre in its extensive use of reverb effects and lyrics spoken softly over loud instrumentals, though M83's songs employ considerably less guitar than most shoegazing bands. Gonzalez and Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their sophomore album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, and now Gonzalez records mainly on his own, often with the help of his brother Yann Gonzalez, vocalist/keyboardist Morgan Kibby, guitarist/bassist Pierre-Marie Maulini, and drummer Loïc Maurin.

Bastards of Young (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2973084/replacements_bastards_of_young/)

Artist: The Replacements

The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1979. The band was composed of guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bassist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars for most of their career. Following two critically acclaimed albums, Let It Be and Tim, Bob Stinson was fired in 1986 and the band experienced several line-up changes. Towards the end of the band's career, Westerberg exerted more control over their creative output. The group disbanded in 1991, with the members ultimately pursuing various projects. The Replacements never experienced any significant commercial success but have influenced a variety of alternative rock acts. The Replacements' music was influenced by classic rock artists such as Faces, Big Star, and Badfinger as well as punk rock bands such as The Clash and The Jam.

Spinal, just a FYI, it was made in response to the overly commercial nature of that first wave of MTV vids. It's a good, funny video, I think. Adam

There is something to be said for the idea that music videos take something away from the music they're ostensibly accentuating. Chuck Klosterman wrote an interesting essay once where he talks about how music videos encourage the "passive listening" of music. I can kinda sorta buy that and that Replacements video is designed to ensure you're actually listening to the music

The joke's on them. The first wave of MTV videos contained an explosion of experimentation and creativity. They're stuck with a dumb-ass video of a guy sitting around smoking a cigarette. If you want to make a statement about truth and honesty, do it the way Sinead O'Connor did. Put some heart into it. Don't criticize perceived emptiness be being more vacant yourself. Artist: Pavement

Pavement is an American indie/alternative rock band. Although they experienced only moderate commercial success, they achieved a significant cult following and were one of the most popular and influential lo-fi rock bands of the 1990s. Pavement formed in Stockton, California in 1989 as a studio project of guitarists and vocalists Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kannberg, known originally only as "S.M." and "Spiral Stairs", respectively. Their debut EPs were extremely lo-fi releases. Around 1992 Pavement became a full-time band, with the addition of bassist Mark Ibold, drummer Gary Young and extra percussionist Bob Nastanovich. Their debut album, Slanted and Enchanted, was released commercially in 1992 after copies had been circulated on cassette tape for nearly a year. The group remained signed to an independent label throughout their entire career. The group disbanded in 1999, but more recently a reunion was announced for shows in 2010.

Artist: OK Go

OK Go is a rock band originally from Chicago, Illinois, now residing in Los Angeles, California. The band is composed of Damian Kulash (lead vocals and guitar), Tim Nordwind (bass guitar and backing vocalist), Dan Konopka (drums and percussion) and Andy Ross (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals), who joined them in 2005 in replacement of Andy Duncan. The original members formed as OK Go in 1998 and released two studio albums before Duncan's departure. The band is notable for their unusual fashion sense and their energetic music videos. After OK Go's exposure on This American Life and their relationship with They Might Be Giants, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2002. The band's second album, Oh No, was recorded in Malmö, Sweden, in the fall of 2004. The band previewed their third album, titled Of the Blue Colour of the Sky, on a short sling of dates on the Eastern Coast of the U.S., starting in Philadelphia on March 6, 2009. They have stated that these songs are the "danciest, most anthemic, most heartbroken, and honest songs", of their career.

Artist: Beirut

Beirut is an American band. It began as the solo musical project of 23-year-old Santa Fe, New Mexico native Zachary Francis Condon, and later evolved into a band led by Condon. Their first performances were in New York in May of 2006, to support the release of their debut album, Gulag Orkestar. The music combines elements of Eastern European and Balkan folk with Western pop music, fusing the American mainstream and indie-rock culture and the World Music market. Condon plays a rotary valve flugelhorn and the ukulele as his main instruments. He bought the ukulele as a joke stage prop, but found he liked the sound and was able to play it despite a wrist injury that inhibited him from playing guitar. Live, Beirut's shifting roster generally consists of Condon accompanied by Perrin Cloutier (cello/accordion), Jason Poranski (guitar/mandolin/ukulele), Nick Petree (drums), Kristin Ferebee (violin), Paul Collins (organ/keys/tambourine/ukulele), Jon Natchez (baritone sax/mandolin/glockenspiel), and Kelly Pratt (trumpet/euphonium).

West first rose to fame as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, where he achieved recognition for his work on Jay-Z's album The Blueprint, as well as hit singles for musical artists including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet Jackson. His style of production originally used pitched-up vocal samples from soul songs incorporated with his own drums and instruments. However, subsequent productions saw him broadening his musical palette and expressing influences encompassing '70s R&B, baroque pop, trip hop, arena rock, folk, alternative, electronica, synth-pop, and classical music. His four albums have received numerous awards, including a cumulative twelve Grammys.

Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1990. Since their inception, the band's line-up has included drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Tool is known to have rigorous touring schedules in support of their albums, they have performed well on charts worldwide, and have sold an estimated 9.25 million records in the United States alone. Their efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution continued with their third album, Lateralus, in 2001; and their most recent album, 10,000 Days, released in 2006, gained the band critical acclaim and success around the world.

'IAM' has several meanings, including 'Invasion Arrivée de Mars' ('Invasion from Mars'). 'Mars' is frequently used as a metaphor for Marseille in IAM's songs. The band was formed in late 1985 by Akhenaton and Khéops, under the name Lively Crew. Lively Crew became B.Boys Stance in the summer of 1987, after which it was joined by Shurik'n, Freeman and Imhotep. In 1989 the group was renamed IAM, and they produced their first album, IAM Concept which was released the following year. After the massively successful 1997 album, L'école du micro d'argent, members of the group began to pursue solo careers. However, the group remained intact, writing tracks for their album Revoir un printemps, completed in 2003. The group released its most recent album Saison 5, in April 2007.

Artist: Agalloch

Agalloch is an American metal band formed in 1995 in Portland, Oregon. The band is led by vocalist and guitarist John Haughm and so far have released four limited EPs, three full-length albums, two demos, one split album, one compilation album and one live DVD. A fourth full-length album is planned for future release. Agalloch began as the creation of John Haughm and Shane Breyer, named after the resinous wood of the Agarwood. In early 1996, the duo began producing songs and, during the summer, Don Anderson joined the band to further refine the material. Agalloch performs a progressive and avant-garde style of folk metal that encompasses an eclectic range of tendencies including neofolk, post-rock, black metal and doom metal. Common themes in Agalloch's imagery and subject matter are natural beauty and allusions to ancestral Heathenry. One of the non-traditional instruments Agalloch has been known to use is the skull of a deer.

Artist: The dB's

The dB's were a jangle pop/power pop group of the late 1970s and 1980s. The bandmembers were Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby and Gene Holder, all of whom were from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They released their first album, Stands for Decibels, in 1981, to critical acclaim but negligible sales. Their sound was a modernized version of earlier power pop, with precise arrangements and highly accomplished instrumental work. Stamey and Holsapple were the band's songwriters, and while Holsapple was skilled in the composing of fairly straightforward tunes such as "Big Brown Eyes" and "Bad Reputation," Stamey's songs, which include "Espionage" and "Tearjerkin'," tended to be somewhat more experimental. Although the dB's enjoyed only a limited popularity, their recordings were held in high esteem by critics. Robert Christgau, reviewing their first album, said "This is pop at its tensest--the precise harmonies, broken rhythms, and Byrdsy zoom effects are drawn so tight they make the expertly rendered romantic ups and downs of the songs sound intense and earned."

The band consists of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, beats), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboard, other instruments), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar, synthesizers) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion). Radiohead released their first single, "Creep", in 1992. The song was initially unsuccessful, but it became a worldwide hit several months after the release of their debut album, Pablo Honey (1993). Radiohead's popularity rose with the release of their second album, The Bends (1995). Radiohead's third album, OK Computer (1997), propelled them to greater international fame. Featuring an expansive sound and themes of modern alienation, OK Computer has often been acclaimed as a landmark record of the 1990s. Radiohead has received the Best Alternative Music Performance award three times at the Grammy Awards, for OK Computer in 1998, Kid A in 2001, and In Rainbows in 2009.

Artist: The Beatles

The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960 and one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. From 1962 the group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the group later worked in many genres ranging from folk rock to psychedelic pop, often incorporating classical and other elements in innovative ways. The nature of their enormous popularity, which first emerged as the "Beatlemania" fad, transformed as their songwriting grew in sophistication. The group came to be perceived as the embodiment of progressive ideals, seeing their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s. The Beatles were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most important and influential people.

Artist: Pulp

Pulp were an English alternative rock band formed in Sheffield in 1978. Upon their split in 2002, their lineup consisted of Jarvis Cocker (vocals, guitar), Candida Doyle (keyboards), Mark Webber (guitar), Steve Mackey (bass) and Nick Banks (drums). Throughout the 1980s, the band struggled to find success but gained prominence in the UK in the 1990s after the release of the albums His 'n' Hers in 1994 and Different Class in 1995, of which, the latter reached the number one spot in the UK Albums Chart. Pulp's musical style in this successful era consisted of disco influenced pop-rock coupled with "kitchen sink drama"-style lyrics. This period of success led to the band and frontman Jarvis Cocker becoming major figures in the Britpop movement in the mid-1990s. In June 2009, Cocker stated in an article in The Sun that he had no intention of reuniting the band but suggested that a financial incentive might sway him.

Stephen T. Colbert is the youngest of 11 children, born into a devout Roman Catholic family—so devout, in fact, they sent their teenage son to an "exorcism day camp" when they discovered he liked Dungeons & Dragons. Prior to becoming host of The Colbert Report, he worked as a carnival roustabout and a construction worker. During the 1980s, he was the lead singer and guitarist of the New Wave band, Stephen and the Colberts. He was the totalitarian ruler of Malawi from 1982 to 1984. Colbert later moved into reporting, working in TV news for several stations in Virginia and North Carolina. In 1997, Colbert was promoted to anchor of the Channel 7 News on WPTS Patterson Springs after outing the previous anchor, Wayne Colt, for his cocaine addiction. His ensuing investigative reports into Colt's downfall earned him a local Emmy, and eventually a correspondent position at The Daily Show. Colbert was knighted by Queen Noor of Jordan with Andúril, the actual prop sword from The Lord of the Rings films.

Artist: Green Day

Green Day is an American rock trio formed in 1987.[1] The band has consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) for the majority of its existence. Green Day was originally part of the punk rock scene in Berkeley, California. Its early releases for independent record label Lookout! Records earned them a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label. Nevertheless, its major label debut Dookie (1994) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 15 million copies worldwide. As a result, Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States. Green Day's 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the U.S. They have won three Grammy Awards; Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

Artist: Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band with melodic, classical, and minimalist elements. The band is known for its ethereal sound and lead singer Jónsi Birgisson's falsetto voice. Jón Þór (Jónsi) Birgisson (guitar and vocals), Georg Hólm (bass) and Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson (drums) formed the group in Reykjav*k in August 1994. Their name is Icelandic wordplay: while the individual words Sigur and Rós mean, respectively, Victory and Rose, "Victory Rose" wouldn't be grammatically correct; the name is actually borrowed from Jónsi's younger sister Sigurrós, who was born the same day as the band was formed, and then split into two words. The band was joined by Kjartan Sveinsson on keyboards in 1998. He is the only member of Sigur Rós with musical training, and has contributed most of the orchestral and string arrangements for their later work. International acclaim came with 1999's Ágætis byrjun ("An all right start"). The album's reputation spread by word of mouth over the following two years. Soon critics worldwide hailed it as one of the great albums of its time, and the band was playing support to established acts such as Radiohead.

Artist: Malk De Koijn

Malk de Koijn is a Danish rap group formed in 1993, known for their innovative use of the Danish language. The group has 3 members, Tue Track (rap, keyboard & turntables), Blæs Bukki (rap & keyboards) and Geolo G (rap). They often have "alter-egos" when performing. In 1998 their first album Smash Hit in Aberdeen was launched. The style was different from the usual rap songs at that time - the group rapped about their imaginary universes in Aberdeen (not to be confused with the city in Scotland) and Langestrand, and the (often bizarre) humour was the most essential part of their songs. The critics liked the album and it was nominated for a Grammy - in 1999 the group also won Maarums Lyrikpris, a lyric prize. Their second album Sneglzilla came in 2002 - and once again the album was very well received among fans and critics. The Danish music magazine Gaffa and two national papers, Politiken and Ekstra Bladet, wrote that Sneglzilla was the best album of 2002.

Black Hole Sun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiSkyEyBczU)

Artist: Soundgarden

Soundgarden is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by lead singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Matt Cameron became the band's permanent drummer in 1986 while bassist Ben Shepherd became a permanent replacement for Yamamoto in 1990. Soundgarden was the first grunge band to sign to a major label, though the band did not achieve commercial success until Seattle contemporaries Nirvana and Pearl Jam popularized grunge in the early 1990s. Soundgarden achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album, Superunknown, which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman". In 1997, the band broke up due to internal strife over its creative direction. However, Cornell announced on January 1, 2010 that there would be a Soundgarden reunion, though no details have yet been released.

Instructions:

Please take the time to watch all three videos and then cast your vote by making a post in this thread. Thread will be open a minimum of 24 hours and then may close any time after that at my discretion.

Although it will naturally be difficult to vote for music you find disagreeable or against personal favorites, please remember that the primary question should be "Is this the most effective and/or artistic video?" not "Is this the best song?" Basically, just keep an open mind and allow yourself the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised.

Artist: Queens of the Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age is an American Grammy Award-nominated rock band from Palm Desert, California, United States, formed in 1997. Originally formed under the name Gamma Ray by guitarist Josh Homme, following the breakup of his previous band, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age developed a style of riff-oriented, heavy music which has been described by Homme as 'robot rock', saying that he "wanted to create a heavy sound based on a solid jam, and just pound it into your head". Frequent touring generated support for the band which grew when Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl joined in late 2001/early 2002 to record their third album. Songs for the Deaf was released in August and was a critical and commercial success.

Madonna. Hate Chemical Romance, and the Queens of the Stone Age video is simply alright.

I remember the hype for the premiere of "Frozen" was pretty big when I paid attention to MTV. It is a good one though.
