View Full Version : Acts Generally Considered One Hit Wonders That Totally Don't Deserve To Be
There are so many and it's really tough to nail a lock-down definition on "one hit wonder." Here are a few huge ones, for me, that are pretty popular bands in the UK but not so much on my side of the pond:
The Verve
Madness
The Proclaimers
Chumbawamba
Blur
Cornershop
Also - Biz Markie. Kind of bums me out that his career flamed out so hard. And if anyone considers Violent Femmes to be a one hit wonder, then fuck me I might as well just sharpen my earbuds and fall on them already because I do not want to live in a world where people think of the Violent Femmes as a one hit wonder

The Verve, Madness and Blur are far from one hit wonders. They're very popular all over the world, having one hit in the US is meaningless.
Yeah, well, I kinda sorta made note of that. It's just I've lived in the US all my life and I know the general perception on Blur, Madness & The Verve over here. And obviously since I made this thread and put them there, I understand they don't deserve to be considered one hit wonders

Eve 6. Their third album was surprisingly good Socal pop-rock with a strong acoustic element. Much better than they let on with admittedly catchy one-offs "Inside Out" and "Leech."

I meant - neither are generally considered one hit wonders, so not really good examples. Unless you're basing this solely on the US point of view, which is foreign to me.:P
Um, I wasn't like a geography whiz in high school or anything, but don't all the world's land masses revolve around the United States? Isn't that called like continental drift or some such shit? You know, I don't wanna sound like a dick here, but I just figure if the one nation that's the center of everything deems a band a one hit wonder, the rest of you flyover countries have to acknowledge that

On my world map, my country of roughly 600,000 people is pretty much in the centre, and the US is drifting off the edge.
