Showoff.
I'm going to try to squeeze in a couple this week (the shorter ones), because I've always wanted to see more Ken Burns films, and this is as good an excuse as any.

So sad. :(
He was at Telluride as well. He's part of the "Show Ring," so he's there every year. He talked about how two movies rearranged his molecules. The two movies being The Road and A Prophet. I thought that was funny.

Well, just in case I can't fit one of his films in, I'll post the score for the one I've seen before the deadline:

Get right on Civil War. It breezes by!

Jazz -7
I remember liking most of it, but didn't like its dismissal of avant and fusion jazz. I also remember thinking it didn't give a very good reason why people should view jazz as more than a dusty old cultural artifact.
Why did the others who saw it here rate it so low?

Basically what you said, only I guess it ultimately impacted my opinion of it more than you. It's pretty dry even by Burns' standards and for all its length, it gives a very narrow and malnourished view of an artform I love very dearly.

Mark Twain - 8.5
I have seen quite a bit of both Jazz and The Civil War, but I can't say I've seen them.

Spinal's prediction came close to coming true. Only one film qualifies, and makes it into the Match Cut Top 10. Impressive.

I have to concur with the reviews of Jazz. It leaned way to heavily on the early early jazz and the swing era. 50s and beyond got short shrift. 70s and beyond was an afterthought. Also, the film relied too heavily on Wynton Marsalis. It would have been lovely to get more divergent perspectives.
