Written and directed by Bob Goldthwait, starring Robin Williams.

Williams looks like he's back in rare form. After reading a full synopsis, I'm anticipating it. I'm glad Goldthwait is still working!
There's a Red Band trailer, too. I'm at work, so they're blocked for me right now, so if somebody else wants to post it, please feel free! :)

My festival review (http://www.justpressplay.net/movies/movie-news/5292-sfiff52-review-worlds-greatest-dad.html). Might write a new one for the release.
Hmmm... I think I might like this movie, though I'm really curious as to how the scenario can be played for laughs. Seems like the setup for one of those "Oh man, that's totally effed up" kind of pictures.

Looks very good. I love Robin Williams when he's not over the top.
I'll see it.

Yeah, it's been OnDemand for over a week.
I didn't want to pay for it. I just wait until they premiere for free and record them.

On a semi-related note, I saw Robin Williams on Conan the other night. It's always uncomfortable to watch him get interviewed because it's always like he's ferociously trying to meet a joke quota or something. He seems like a really nice guy, and I think he's got some talent, but he's so damn hyperactive during interviews that it's almost like the interviewer can't ever get a word in edgewise.
Anyways, this looks good. I'm glad he's edging into more interesting territory and away from stuff like RV (which looked bad but it may have been good, I don't know).

How is anyone supposed to see this? It's playing in one theater in the entire country, and there is no official Web site, so it is impossible to find future showtimes.

It's on OnDemand, and HDNet I think, and it's all over The Pirate Bay.

I'm not sure what to think about this...
One one hand I appreciate it for using its subject matter the way it does, for it being a fairly funny movie and for Williams, who is very good in it for the most part. But somewhere along the line it just felt like the movie got nervous about playing it in any sort of real way and then seemed like it was playing things more fancifully. The budget obviously wasn't there, but certain musical montages and cues are still clumsy because of how Goldthwait plays them (particularly one ending with a group hug just feels like a bad high school play) instead of whatever restrictions there were with production values.
So as a script, it's pretty brilliant, and I would recommend it to any of my friends as long as they knew what they were getting into. Though having watched it, I don't know if the experience was entirely rewarding or if it earns what it puts the audience through. But if there's one thing I will say I apprecaite, it's that I'm glad I knew so little about it and the trailer did a very good job of making it seem appealing without telling you what it's really about.

(Which on a four-star scale is what I'd still consider a "rotten" grade or a "thumbs down", but wouldn't mind if it were interpretted as otherwise. Actually, that sums up my feelings quite well here.)

I looked for this on OnDemand last night and could not find it anywhere. Must not be available in my area.

I liked Williams in the movie a lot. Overall though the film lacked that special something to be, you know, good.

Sorry, my message got misinterpreted (I need to be more careful in my phrasing). That was not a request for a pirated copy, that was me saying I'm not interested in the fact you can get it everywhere illegally, but if BW was referring to it being viewable online somewhere, like streaming or a free legit download, then I'd appreciate a link.

Watched this a couple nights ago. Mediocre. Too tonally inconsistent. Not enough laughs when it was trying to be funny, and almost no emotion during the dramatic moments. Could have been a poignant ending, but it did nothing to earn that catharsis.

I thought it would've been a more effective statement if he allowed himself to continue to get away with lying. Instead, I think the movie took an easier way out.
I did enjoy seeing Robin Williams in a toned down role.

I'm with you all the way. It would have fit the film much better.
