Haven't seen any of them in years, though.

The Island of Dr. Moreau is one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever seen. But I didn't finish it, so I'm not going to rate it.

Birdman of Alcatraz- 8
Seconds- 7
Ronin- 8

Haven't seen any of these in a few years. Saw the Island of Dr. Mureau in the theater when I was 15 or so (too long ago to rate). I remember thinking it was really bizzare and silly but not altogether terrible. I remember being fascinated with Brando's little minion.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962) [8]

I saw this on the big screen in South Korea, but I don't think Busan is in Manchuria.

The Train (1964) 8.0
Seconds (1966) 9.5
The Iceman Cometh (1973) 8.0
Prophecy (1979) 3.5
Dead Bang (1989) 7.0
The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) 2.0
Ronin (1998) 6.5

Everyone here needs to see Dead Bang. It moves along a standard path, but there are frequent bits of batshit craziness that make it immensely enjoyable. Plus, Don Johnson.

I have seen many Frankenheimer films and I remember quite a few of them really well. He's a solid craftsman who knows how to spin an exciting yarn. However, for the sake of some weird whimsical current pulsing through my body right now, I am choosing to rate only two of them, because I think the rest will do fine without me.

These two, however...:

The French Connection II - 9
The Island of Dr. Moreau - 8

... need me.

Beyond spelling the title right in the opening credits, I can't think of what that would be.

I'm with Spinal on Moreau. It was the first film I walked out on. Unlike Spinal, I have no qualms assigning it a rating.

Yeah, I had no idea my nine films would prove to be by far the most seen. I really am shocked nobody else has seen The Iceman Cometh. Eugene O'Neill play, Frankenheimer directing, and let's see, Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan, Fredric March and Jeff Bridges! It's on Netflix. C'mon people!

Sven

Fine:

The Iceman Cometh - 7.5

Ryan is amazing, but I can't help but feel Marvin, who impresses, is a bit miscast. Still, great play, great production.

Alright, so I rented The Manchurian Candidate and, out of sheer morbid curiosity, The Island of Dr. Moreau. I'd love to wind up a supporter for the latter.

Also, I wonder if anyone has seen the Director's Cut of Reindeer Games, which is reportedly a much different movie than the studio-butchered cut released in theaters.

French Connection II over Seconds? Wow, gotta look into the former now.

EDIT: One of the 4 votes for FC2 was from KF, who listed the original and not the sequel in his votes... did he give a cursory glance over the thread and get the impression that Frankenheimer directed the original? Only time will tell.

*sigh*

It's not like I didn't know Friedkin directed the first one. I don't know what the hell I was doing. I've never seen the sequel, so my 9.5 needs to be erased. I'll go sit in the corner now.

I think these things only include .5's or whole numbers so yours will be rounded to 9.
