The most engaging flick of the year so far btw although I haven't seen tons of 2009 movies. ;)

this is a spectacular step down from the last king of scotland. directing is, imo, the weakest part of this movie, with script being the strongest. as a thriller, the movie's not worthless, although it's unnecessarily labyrinthine.

its biggest problem is they are biting off more than they can chew. the commentary on media is timely but amount to nothing, so is the gender conflict. presented as a full-blown thriller, the movie might have been more engaging at least.

No, the mini is superb. It trumps the movie in writing, directing, cast, pretty much every which way. I just feel sorry for the order you're watching it.
