Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyguybxwIiU)

Hey, it's actually a vampire film that actually looks decent.

Good cast too.

That looks interesting, if a little blue.

I don't know. Trailer gives me kind of an Equilibrium vibe. Nice to see Sam Neil in something though.

Allegory! Kate Bush cover! Willem Dafoe with a crossbow!

I'm in.

The allegory makes me laugh with glee. I will see this.

Reminds me of Blindness. I haven't seen Blindness, but the trailers feel similar.

That looks interesting, if a little blue.

Almost like Underworld's blue tint.

I like Sam Neill as a bad guy. I'm surprised he wasn't given more roles after Event Horizon.

edit: And it doesn't look like Equilibrium at all...

I certainly see the Equilibrium connection.

Looks neat. A lot better than 30 Days of Night, at least.

And I like both Sam Neill and Willem Dafoe.

That trailer looks good. I'm officially excited.

Eh. It does have an Equilibrium vibe, which isn't a good thing. I'm not terribly excited by that trailer.

Most of the shots look average but some of the money shots look decent. Might see it.

It's got the same dull monochromatic sheen that defined the Spierig's earlier effort, Undead, a film I found technically accomplished but pretty awful from every other standpoint.

Still, with a cast like this (DaFoe versus Neill? Yes please) and a pleasant I Am Legend reversal on the vampires, this could be something fun.

I'll wait for the critics to chime in.

I also thought Undead was a letdown, mostly because it tryed too hard to be a cult horror comedy. But this may actually work better since it looks very different in tone... i'm curious.

I hated Undead. This is from the same guy?

Hi guys. Back from Vegas. I'm guessing I'm the only one who spent money to see this over the weekend?

It wasn't bad, but wasn't too good either. Starts off heavily relying on imagery and those dark shadow Matrix-like shots, to give you a good perspective on the Vampire life at night. Dafoe is a riot. Has a ton of one liners. Ending is very underwhelming as is the synopsis and the solution to fix the lack of human blood for the vampires to drink. But there are a lot of surprising AND scary scenes that caught me off guard.

I saw it this weekend, and found it conflicting. It was shot, lit, and cut very well, but it had story and script issues. So it looked great, but left something to be desired.

I liked it. I had some thoughts posted in the discussion thread. It's pretty decent and smart. Nice that the creatures weren't too upfront.

I like how much the Vampires feared the mutated vamps. Vampires are already supposed to have much greater strength than humans correct. I'm assuming this was also the case in this movie although I can't remember any human vs vampire fights.

Every single moment involving Dafoe's character ruined any chance of the film being good. The Dafoe character was seemingly written into the movie to bring it down to the lowest common denominator since the filmmakers obviously didn't have enough faith in their film without it.

I actually got a blast out of this. It was a pleasant surprise. It's an unapologetic B movie that delivers: preposterous, silly story, good-looking vampires (specially the starving ones), violence and cool heroes. I got a huge John Carpenter vibe from it, probably because of Sam Neill and the use of widescreen. In fact, halfway through it I started thinking that if Carpenter had directed the same high concept, the results would be fucking classic. As it is, it's a good past-time.

I enjoyed it, but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as you. I got annoyed with the "cure" and the testing that Hawk was doing. He was a scientist, but I found it comical that his tests where anything but scientific.

I laughed at that too, but it didn't bother me. Filed it under B movie.

The way Dafoe stopped being a vampire is pretty silly too.
