Between this and C Me Dance, the gods of trailers for movies that ACTUALLY EXIST have been in a generous mood recently.

I think this one is wholly intentional though.

WTF is with the smattering of keyboards? Having the same soulless style of "real people" acting in every performance made me want to throw the monitor out the window. GIVE ME SOMETHING!

It's listed as a comedy. Maybe the quality is intentional?

Heh:

Although Apple Trailers labeled the film a comedy, Region said it’s a mistake. He said the movie is more like a Hitchcock film, dark and mysterious.

“The movie is just a regular mystery… with special effects and computer effects,” he said.

The special effects, which appear in the trailer, cost a big part of the movie’s $5 million budget said Region. He said most of the money came from local investors, not from Hollywood.

He said he wanted to keep the set simple and hired local actors to keep the the film low-budget.

“It took a lot of effort, we tried to do our best,” he said.

Spending the majority of the budget on SFX (which look horrible) instead of acting talent or good camerawork sounds like the formula for a SyFy Original Movie. I've seen films made for $100,000 that look better, aesthetically.

I know you're saying "sci-fi" but I'm still hearing "siffy".

It must either take a lot of skill or a lot of incompetence to make $5 million look that cheap.

That trailer cannot be one that isn't self-aware. It just can't be.

By the way, this is supposedly not even a joke, from what I've heard.

It looks like someone's senior thesis.

And the animation sequences look like something on Maya.

The lighting! Please, gouge my eyes out.

That is supposed to be an MRI scanner? It looks like things children climb on, all stacked together.

This is like the mumblecore version of Manos: The Hands of Fate, except it cost 5 million dollars.

5 MILLION dollars. It just makes me mad thinking about what could have been made with that much money in the right hands.

Probably a scheme. They get $5 million from private investors, use $40, make a turkey, and no one asks for their money back.

Someone's been watching The Producers.

The Room 2?

Egads, that was laughable!

This made me think of Bubble, but made by some one who was autistic.

I caught bits of it on Adult Swim last April 1st.

I caught bits of it on Adult Swim last April 1st.Yeah, I didn't watch the whole thing either. On the DVD, there's this very long making of featurette, which goes on and on about how he shot every scene in 35mm and on HD because the director wanted to compare the two, and when you realize just how much work went into making this deliberately cheesy movie (and how enthusiastic some of the actors were to be working on it; apparently, they didn't know it was a joke), it makes it that much sadder.

Worth looking at for the laugh factor, at least?

.....

I'm a student filmmaker.Well, I must've gone to a better film school than you, because the films my classmates and I made--whatever their artistic limitations--at least had production value and okay lighting, which is more than I can say for After Last Season.

You'll be surprised to learn that The Room is based on a book. By Tommy Wiseau. That he got published. That was also a play.

ITS NOT FAAAIRRRR
