He's serviceable but not sure why he latched himself to a rather bland actor like Robert Redford for his entire career. Good actor though.

I owe it to him and probably myself to check out some of his more respected films. I saw Sabrina when I was like 13 and won't allow myself to grade it here. 3 months after I saw The Interpreter, it came out on DVD and I'd completely forgotten that I'd seen it until a friend jogged my memory.

The Electric Horseman -- 9
Sabrina -- 5
Sketches of Frank Gehry -- 8

I owe my viewing of The Electric Horseman the best film review class I've ever had at Utah Valley University. I was blown away by the movie and I highly recommend everyone checking that one out.

I don't think he's a bad director, but he does nothing for me so far. A few of his movies that I haven't seen sound really good, though, like The Yakuza and Three Days of the Condor.

Three Days of the Condor(1975)-9.0
Absence of Malice(1981)-8.0

I really haven't seen much of his more critically acclaimed movies. So far, I like him as a director, however. "Johnson" has the potential to be a new favorite.

Are you referring to The Electric Horseman? I'm sorry if I just burst your bubble, but I have seen that. Not sure how I missed it the first time. You aren't going to like my rating either.

The Electric Horseman - 4.0

The Firm is the epitome of a '5' film. So merely competent. So adequately engaging.

As I mentioned in The Film Discussion Thread, I recently watched it a few days ago. I agree... 'adequately engaging' is an apt description. It kind of gets a little unnecessarily complicated near the end and the resolution between Cruise's character and his wife seemed a little strange and too easy.

I would have liked a little more conspiracy, a little more mystery, a little more ingenuity on Cruise's character's behalf. The cat and mouse games here were fun and interesting, but the plan Cruise's character worked out near the end seemed to lack intensity and interest, somehow.

The chase near the end was great, though.
