I thought it might be interesting to assemble a sort of list/collection of what actors are chosen to play younger versions of more popular performers. It's done often in bio-pics and a lot of old Hollywood films.

An example would be something like;

Frank Coghlan Jr. played James Cagney as a wayward youth in The Public Enemy

Very neat thread idea.

Is it just me or did Frank Coghlan Jr. grow up to look like Rick Astley?

Both Jen and I think Jennifer Connelly is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.

We also both agree that she looked better about 10 years ago, before she started starving herself skinny.

She has a nice full, curvy figure and wears it very well.

And wow, they actually picked a good match in Once Upon a Time in America. A rare case where it seems plausible that the child actor would have grown up to look that way.

I still need to see that movie.

Yea, Connelly is incredibly beautiful.

I thought so tooo, probably the best match I've encountered yet. The ressemblance is actually quite remarkable, a great piece of casting... at least as far as visuals go.

Fell in love with Connelly the second I saw The Rocketeer. Couldn't see most of her movies until I got older though.

Actually, this is incorrect. That scene in Angels was from the present day, not from the past prologue, although the two kids they picked to play the young Cagney and O'Brien were indeed spitting images.

EDIT: I found some tiny pictures...

Burke:

Tracy:

Burke's Cagney impersonation was also quite flawless.

I still need to see that movie.Too bad Connelly so completely upstages McGovern as an actress. And the main character, Noodles, and his boy friends seem to age thirty years in the time he's in prison. Maybe it's a character thing: I mean, if I looked like James Woods in his late 30s when I was in my early 20s, I'd have anger management issues, too.

Maybe this is off-topic, but I read today that one of the slumdog kids had his house demolished in a slum clearing. Also, I read a while go that the little girl was having trouble readjusting to life in the slums after going to the Oscars and sleeping in a nice hotel with a real bed. Plus there was the video of one of the kids being beaten because he didn't want to talk to reporters who were paying his father. I mean, the movie made like 300 million dollars, but Danny Boyle can't do anything to help these kids that he exploited?
