15. X2 (2003)

Supportin my hometown actor Arron Stanford (Pyro) I had high expectations for X2, esp after the ending in the first movie. Although it didn't deliver on a level I wanted it to, it was still great to see new mutants, new enemies and a cliffhanger ending. I wanted more of Mutant vs Mutant fighting; but as I recall, the movie did follow the comic structure to almost an exact. Again, like the third movie, I wish they hadn't pressed so hard to get the Phoenix Saga going. They could have easily spread this across four of five films. It's a Hollywood thing right? Below a scene with Stanford.

Yeh the ending was a complete mess and I do believe I'm in agreement with most when Synder misinterpreted the comic, so I am half angry with how this movie ends. On the other hand, there really isn't another movie like it; Can we pretend it's a standalone film? If we want to get down and really analyze Synder's intentions, what makes the ending a bit easier to swallow would be that Dr. Manhattan, replaces teh squid, giving the people something else to fear; went from becoming the savior of America, a symbol of power and yet with one decision, is no longer America's defender. That sounds great... if you can get past the Dark Knight similarities. Intro is below.

Love Burton's style, Love Keaton (sorry I couldn't say that about him The Other Guys), Love (of course) Nicholson and love Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent. Below is my favoite scene in the movie.

There isn't much I don't love in this movie. The subtle humor, the animation, the crazy-balls-out-ending... I remember seeing this in middle school with a bunch of friends and after it was over we turned and looked at each other, like we were all thinking "what the fuck just happened?"/// Below is the ending; Don't watch if you're interested in seeing this movie.

You know, we all agree that Alan Moore tends to get shortchanged when it comes to film adaptations, but I kinda just realized that the films tend to make the opposite point of his comics.

If I were to do the list, Superman would be at the very top of the list

Here was another list I started back in 2009 and never finished.
I'm WFH today so I decided to redo the list and see what change.
I've reordered and reranked comic book movies WORTH watching.
The only movie that improved in rankings since 2009 was Sin City.
Two movies didn't change rank.
2009 list on the left. 2016 list on the right.
