This film was supposed to be out last Spring or something, but because it's Gainax, it's coming out June 27 of this year. There's a trailer out now, and it's here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDscbi2kgsw).

While the first film in the Rebuild project was a fairly straight retelling of the first few episodes and the trailer and the film itself was packed full of recognizable reconstructions of compositions and scenes, there's a lot in this trailer that looks much more foreign to me. Anno and crew would appear to be taking an even more drastically revisionist take on the narrative than I thought they were going to.

There's a lot of things I'm curious about here. I see new characters, a new Eva or two, and some intriguing shots of Kaworu. At any rate, I'm thrilled about this, and am hoping we get a prompt and decent fansub.

Yeah, the preview at the end of the first film is telling enough regarding the revisionism. I can't wait for this, I was always a huge fan of the original.

It's not as thrilling or as stylishly edited as the previous trailer, but there's new footage on display. But considering it's probably going to be five months or so before I can watch a decent translation of reasonable video and audio quality, I'm taking whatever I can get for now.

This may be my actual most anticipated movie of the year.
