I wanted to make a thread for Ferrell's new movie since we saw the trailer during the super bowl. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4UMhOYIPqU)

I'll see it, just because I love Ferrell. But I don't think this is going to be anything great.

When Semi-Pro came out, I trashed it and made this joke:


Will Ferrell needs to stop doing these easy roles as egocentric superstars. It's like he's doing the same movie over and over again, but with his character changing jobs.

What's next, Will Ferrell as an archeologist in Hard Bone: The Expedition of Ray Calcium?

Yeah, but I don't think it'll matter much whether they're shitty or not.

As for the movie, it looks like something I'll catch on DVD.

It is terrible, but in a completely different tone from what I expected. It's not the Night at the Museum mold the ads make it out to be. It's a watered down Apatow movie.

They spend the entire movie yelling "shit!" at everything (Ferrell gets one "Fuck you"), making masturbation jokes, grabbing Anna Friel's boobs and getting high. Ferrell and McBride play the exact same roles they're known for.

Giacchino's score was the best thing about it. Really funky and retro.

Over the past couple of months, my desire to see this has gone up. I think it looks funny, and at least solid enough to go see in the theater.

according to E, it'll likely turn into a flop. with 7 millions on Friday. which surprises me. this doesn't look any worse or better than other ferrel's. (it looks fucking exactly the same.) or Night at the Museum 2, for that matter.

Uneven, but cute. Some real spurts of hilarity.

After GM declaring bankruptcy, it's funny to see a stretched Humvee stomped by a dinosaur.

Weirdest scene of the year so far: an ice cream truck driver is torn limb from limb by velociraptors.
