Welcome to week 5, where you either prove your classical Hollywood knowledge with Minnelli's films or reveal your deficiencies in that time period. As always, please list the films from first to most recent.

Some Came Running - 7.5
Meet Me in St. Louis is apparently never gonna get off long wait from Netflix. I think I'll research his works more throughout the year, though...

I'll check out The Pirate and An American in Paris. From there we'll see about Gigi and Meet Me In St. Louis.
He did a Van Gogh movie that Martin Scorsese absolutely loves as well.

I've considered him a favorite because he directed two of my most loved films, but now he's looking rather uneven...
Some Came Running - 8.0
The Cobweb - 8.0 (great, campy fun!)
Brigadoon - 3.0
The Long, Long Trailer - 7.0 (didn't even realize he'd directed this...)
The Band Wagon - 7.5
The Bad and the Beautiful - 7.0
An American in Paris - 6.0
Father of the Bride - 7.0
Madame Bovary - 6.5 (though the climactic ball sequence is a definite 10.0)
The Pirate - 6.5
The Clock - 10.0
Meet Me in St. Louis - 10.0
Cabin in the Sky - 8.0
Films He Directed Segments of:
Till the Clouds Roll By - .5 (oy, probably the worst musical I've ever seen, though his dance sequences were the only palatable sections)
Ziegfeld Follies - 5.0 (terribly uneven, though his segment with Judy Garland spoofing Kate Hepburn is the definite bright spot of the film)

If KF ever watched a Minnelli film, I imagine his face would look something a dog denied cupcakes.

Dude, Derek. Why have you not watched The Band Wagon?
I know, I know. It's been near the top of my Netflix queue for a long time. I bumped it to the top when this thread came up, so I should get to some time this week.
Yeah Derek!
I am a disappointment and a failure. :(

For better or worse, I'd say this is true.

Added a generous 6.5 for The Band Wagon. Would be interested in some thoughts--I saw this just a few weeks ago as well, and even though I rated it higher I was also rather disappointed.
EDIT: I just put up some thoughts in my blog.
