"Rescue Me" is pretty much the best firefighter-themed story on celluloid.

Good call. For the first two seasons, it was pretty realistic from what I've observed from others too, as far as the veterans. I just wish they had more Paramedic involvement like firehouses have these days.

I thought it was very brave of "Rescue Me" to present some of the firefighters as total dicks still living off the 9/11 hero worship.

All of them have their own personal issues that could potentially make each and every one of them a loathsome ass, but then you see them on the job and how saving these peoples' lives really is important and meaningful to them.

It's great.

Well, if the remake of Goodbye, Mr. Chips wasn't enough of a reminder to see the original finally, the Waterloo Bridge cover being its DVD cover's opposite is adding to the fire.

I know nothing of the movie, but my dad has the poster for Cannery Row, which is the same as the DVD cover, and it's one of the best movie posters I've ever seen.

Given Kirk Cameron's fundamentalist Christian persuasion and the string of Left Behind movies he's recently been in, I wonder if Fireproof is the story of a Firefighter who decides to go down to hell and put all the fires out. Maybe the movie ends with him giving the devil a bubble bath and converting Satan to Christianity.
