This (http://www.tv3.cat/videos/847399)might be a trailer but it's all in Spanish.

Heh, actually the first link is not in Spanish, it's Catalan.

Trailer looks good. More of the same, but good. The music is awesome.

It's a weird concept though. The first movie worked because they brought in a camera crew. Now they have cameras attached to their guns? What for?

Because otherwise there wouldn't be a movie.

I'm with you, though. [Rec] doesn't really need a sequel, and this guns-with-cameras idea is kind of stupid.

I don't know how they could possibly be as shocking and genuinely scary a second time around.

Of course I hope they pull off something great again...but I'm not expecting it.

Thanks, Duke.

I'm in agreement with the points that have been made, but I am curious about this sequel. I know some people didn't enjoy the first one, but it scared me and I find that extremely rare, and also thrilling. I would love to feel that again. :)

This is opening at the Sitges fest down in october, which was predictable, since everyone there loved the first flick. I'm no fan of the original, and I doubt this is going to be any good, it reeks Battle Royale 2 syndrome. But whatever.

PD: Derek, did you enjoy the first [REC] movie?

PD: Derek, did you enjoy the first [REC] movie?

Yeah, I thought it was very well made, especially compared to other recent handheld, faux-doc films. I do think a sequel is completely unnecessary, so I share your skepticism towards this one.

I'm on the Kiwis like magpies on bikers.

I enjoyed this one, maybe because I wasn't all that big a fan of the original. Parts of it are insanely stupid, but overall I thought the craft was a step up from the first. Both are basically just silly and fun in my eyes. Decent entertainment. Never saw anything scary in them.

Those gun cameras made the film look like a videogame, i'll probably watch it since i'm a rabid fan of the first, but my expectations are low too.

It's definitely an Aliens to Alien kind of sequel, which the directors admitted was an influence in the Q&A I attended. So make of that what you will.

Frankly, I think it's a huge shame they had to follow this up so quickly with a subpar sequel.

I've seen it through...certain means. Fantastically intense again, even if it doesn't have anything quite as terrifying as the final 20 minutes of the original.

You guys haven't got this one yet?

I didn't like it nearly as much as number one...

Why did they have to go Exorcist?

OK I just watched the trailer.

To those who have seen the movie...

...did I see wrong, or is Angela (the reporter) still alive?

If so...how the hell is that possible?

Perhaps the entire frightening part of it is finding out.

That doesn't make any sense. If I wanted to be frightened I'd be watching Cats & Dogs 2.

I dunno, man, I think the end of [REC] provided quite the thrill. I'm surprised the general reception so far of Part 2 is that it doesn't sustain the tension of the first one.

As far as suspense and tension, yeah, it's right up there for me as well. I think while most so-called horror movies focus on suspense in a moment-by-moment way, [REC] goes the rare extra mile of delivering that suspense in a way that grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until the end.

I didn't like [REC] much, and actually enjoyed [REC] 2 more. It was a more thrilling and entertaining movie for me. Probably helped that I saw it in a crowded theatre.

The story is whack, though. Yes, the reporter is still alive, but no, I won't tell you why (seriously, see it for yourself, it's whack). The ending is the worst part, because it just goes for a redux of the original's ending, which means diminishing returns.

I'd say the last twenty minutes or so of [REC] was better than anything in the sequel (that being the only part of the original I really liked). I can understand why most are finding the sequel disappointing.

At the ending of the first when she is pulled away from the camera, was it actually the SWAT guys rescuing her?

A simple yes or no will do. This is the only explanation I can think of that would not drive me into a homicidal frenzy.

Watched this tonight. It's more of the same as discussed but what I really liked about it was the continuation of the "source" of the "virus". I had a discussion with someone here, might have been Meg, about how Quarantine was a great remake because it was esentially the exact same movie as [Rec] only done in English. I was totally wrong.

Without the religious angle, which is what Quarantine lacks, they could have never pulled [Rec]2 off - This is the reason why Quarantine 2 takes place in an airport instead of the same building. I like the familiarity of the building but there's nothing truly great happening here. It's not even all that scary. The scene with the kid walking on the ceiling was a bit of a twist. There's also a great shot almost entirely done with shadows that I thought was eerie. But yeh, nowhere near as good as the first movie. I can't imagine [Rec]3 will be any different.

The cameras Aren't really on the guns, they are attached to helmets and although it does give us a Doom-like view, they use the cameras to "document" everything because that's what they were ordered to do. They also cut in and out of team members when they are searching different parts of the building. I liked that.

I also really enjoyed the dark revealing secrets. Very creepy
