And they won't do any jokes.

Why so serious?

Sorry, I had to.

Hugh Jackman is a pretty funny and somewhat goofy guy from what I have seen. But, if they're announcing "no jokes," then so be it.

I imagine there will still be humor, just not scripted stuff, which may be for the best since a lot of that falls on its face anyhow.

The article I found doesn't mention "no jokes." I'm hope it's not true, because I think he's a funny guy. In a dorky kind of way.

Also, I hope he sings.

Jackman requested no stand-up type humor since he isn't good at that. I didn't see anywhere it said he wouldn't still be a light-hearted and funny host nor that he wouldn't do any funny songs.

Funny songs! Funny songs!

Maybe he'll wear a tux.

I'm sure he'll be singing, and I would expect some filmed sequences at the very least.

If there's anything the Oscars don't need, it's less seriousness.

That's unfortunate.

He won an emmy for hosting the Tony awards... let's not be too dissapointed, he'll probably be a pleasent surprise.

He won an emmy for hosting the Tony awards

That's good news and all, but I especially love that they give awards for how well you do at other awards shows. They should totally have an awards show dedicated to celebrating the achievements of other awards shows: Best Acceptance Speech, Best Audience Reaction Shot, etc. :)

OK by me.

This is just a concession that there's no topping his opening joke of the Oscar season: Australia.

Fine by me. I like Jackman as an actor. There are far worse choices out there.

If I cared about the Oscars, I'm sure i would have something trenchant to add. Instead, I'll just say that I like my steak rare.
