I'm revisiting the movies to prep for the new one, just finished Star Trek.
This movie is close to unwatchable... slow moving, boring and completely ripped off a Star Trek episode. The pacing is probably what hurt this movie the most, dragging out simple scenes like, docking with other ships and flying through space... feels more like a Kubrick film gone wrong. The most disappointing aspect, is the solution to save the Universe.
Who knew sex with a 300 year old space probe would save Earth?
Wrath of Khan next.

I don't think I've ever seen anything to do with the Star Trek canon. And I have no desire to, really. Abrams' version isn't even really a blip on my radar.

After having seen what is allegedly the best (or among the best) of the Star Trek films, Wrath of Khan, I'm actually more interested in Abrams's than any of the others.
Still not really interested.

Watched Wrath of Khan ... movie is damn awesome. And I love the beginning of the Spock storyline.

"Sure as night follows day, sure as eggs is eggs, sure as every odd numbered Star Trek movie is shit."
Of course, Simon Pegg is in Star Trek 11, so I don't know if that quote of his has any weight anymore.

Yeah, the first one is incredibly boring.
EDIT: I watched The Director's Cut [ETM] and it was still pretty boring.

I thought you said you watched the movie? You totally missed the point.
And the Director's Cut is a far superior film. You shouldn't have seen the original cut, as the new version adds seamless special effects to unfinished scenes, and cuts LOADS of boring long sequences.
However, I suspect you still wouldn't quite click with the story.

I had seen it... back in 1990 or so. I'm rewatching them all.. I'm on Generations right now.
If i had to rerank them...
Wrath of Khan 9/10
Search for Spock 9/10
Undiscovered Country 8/10
Voyage Home 7.5/10 (i still love the Time Travel aspect of this film)
Final Frontier 4/10
Star Trek 2/10

Heh, that's fair. To each his own. The TMP score alone is >>> Final Frontier, possibly even with a couple others added to it.
