Two sequels to "Road to Perdition"

As most know, 2002's Road to Perdition was based on a graphic novel. That graphic novel was actually the first part of a trilogy. Plans were on-and-off about whether the next two would be made, and if so, whether it would be the same cast/crew.

Well, it's official (http://chud.com/articles/articles/16929/1/ON-THE-ROAD-TO-PERDITION-AGAIN/Page1.html) - the next two will be made, but not by Sam Mendes.

Max Allan Collins, the author of the trilogy of graphic novels, will be helming the two installments.

As the article mentions at the end, Road to Purgatory (the second story) will be dedicated to Paul Newman, who played a pivitol role in Road to Perdition.

Hm. I'm interested. Not excited so much, but interested. I love Road to Perdition, and I'm intrigued by the idea of the creator of the novels directing the films (though if it ends up anything like a Frank Miller film, it'll be the last time I'm intrigued by this). Appropriate dedication. One of Newman's best performances of his career, and carried the film to a much higher level. That scene in the rain is one of my favorites of the last 10 years.
