View Full Version : Match Cut Meets Football -- EA Style

Most of you have played football games lately and know that you can create players and such.

Well, with NCAA Football now, you can create people as high schoolers getting fought over by schools. Then they can play through their four years and get drafted in the NFL.

I'll do the same here, with Match Cutters.

List the following:

NAME: (match cut or your own)
POSITION:
HOMETOWN:
ABILITY PREFERENCE (Speed/Strength/etc):
HGT/WGT:

I will then give a rundown of who goes where, and how people do during games, and gets drafted. If I can take pictures, I'll try that as well.

It has begun.

Week 3 as colleges attempt to buy, er, recruit these blue chip high schoolers.

Already Eric Bialas (CB) has committed to Oklahoma, and Jacques Capesius (RB-bacon) committing to Alabama.

Drago is looking at Texas
Wats to throw for Oregon
Misurelli to swat over in Miami
Davis to punt for THE Ohio State, and don't forget "THE Commish" Phil Ward looking to go there as well.
Dan Gray over at Florida State looks likely
And K-Fan is digging the Wolverines.

But the season is young.

Near the end of the season.

Misurelli declined Miami and has committed to the Missouri Tigers.
Kurosawa is a Wolverine.
Dan Gray will stick with Florida State.
Ivan Drago is sticking with the Longhorns.
Phil Ward and Daniel Davis will be dorm mates at THE Ohio State.

Capesius/Bialas done.

And Wats is trying to decide between USC and Colorado. One week until bowl season, and then magically, the season begins.

Ezee E

Wats went to Colorado.

And at the beginning of the season it appears that Watashi Bomber will be a backup QB.
Mike Kurosawa and Gray will be redshirted.
Capesius is behind an all-american senior.

Davis, Misurelli, Drago, and Bialas will probably see playtime.

When I return, the season begins!

I use to always like to make my created players 7 foot 400 pound beasts with every kind of accessory (shin guards, elbow protectors, full bar facemasks, visors) with genric names such as Homer Machine, Mr. Pitches, Mr. Tackles, Mr. Dribbles, or Jump Shot.

Ah, the good times of youth when I had time to play video games.

So, is there an option in-game to plant marijuana in this all-american senior's gym shorts and rat him out to the cops?

Heh, if you play the Superstar mode, you play the game in first-person, and each night you decide if you're going to train, read the playbook, or you know, study for your tests. You have to maintain a certain GPA also, otherwise you'll get suspended from the team.

That's as close as it gets. :)

Three weeks gone. Not much from the frosh.

Gray - redshirted
Kurosawa - redshirted. the Wolverines also lost to Notre Dame.

Bialas has 8 tackles in two games.
Drago played only one game, caught a 23 yarder.
Misurelli has only 3 tackles in two blowout games.

Ward - Against a I-AA team he ran for 50 yards and caught a 72 yarder, but no TD. Davis is the kickoff starter, and only had to punt once, for 44 yards.

Wats - played in two blowouts. Threw 11-17, 176 yds and 2 TD

And then there's Capesius, despite being a backup, he's played an important role in two games. 16 rushes 103 yards with 4 TDs, one of those TDs beating some other Alabama school 21-20.

To Week 4.

4&5:

Not much happened.

Capesius, after having value in his first two games, had no carries at all.

Gray may be redshirted, but they are domininating teams, including the #7 Miami. The Seminoles will be the team to beat it appears.

Misurelli had two tackles. Whoo? Drago caught two passes...

Ward showed some impact, getting 79 yards off 16 carries, and his first TD.

Moving on.

Simulated. No way I'd play all those games.

I play as Colorado. I only play the games against ranked opponents unless I have the urge to destroy someone like Central Michigan.

Two more games.

Kurosawa's Michigan is ranked #17.

Capesius' #7 Alabama beat #21 Georgia, and he had only three carries, but one was for a Touchdown. Then, in a huge shocker, they lost to Ole Miss 33-41, and Capesius was benched mostly, only catching the ball three times, one for a TD.

Drago's team lost to Misurelli's Mizzou, taking them down to #14. He caught his first touchdown.

Ohio State is now at #2. Phil Ward was the player of the game in one of the games as he ran 19 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Florida State, once ranked #1, lost to Virginia Tech, and are now #8.

C.U. is #4 overall.

Ezee E
11-18-2008, 05:41 AM
Oh yeah...

#16 Alabama lost to #9 Tennessee, but then beat MSU bigtime. Capesius seems to only be playing a receiver role as he caught 4 passes for 35 yards and 2 TDs in both games.

Florida State killed Duke 35-0, and barely beat Maryland 25-24.

Michigan continues to move up slowly, beating two pointless teams.

Mizzou gets upset by Oklahoma State, drops to #20, in which they surprise #9 Nebraska. Misurelli doesn't contribute anything noteworthy.

Ohio State is #2 after killing Iowa and Indiana. Ward was the MVP of the Indiana game, running for 141 yards, and having 3 touchdowns overall.

C.U. beat Texas A&M and Texas, both top ten ranked teams, but yet they remain #4. Ivan Drago put a hurt on Texas throughout the game, getting 86 yards. Bomber was benched both times.

I went ahead and finished the season. Florida Gators won the BCS. Colorado Buffs won the Fiesta Bowl against the Michigan Wolverines no less. Ohio State finished #4 overall.

Final stats:
Drago 666 yds 8TD 2nd Team/Freshman All-American
Phil Ward - 743 rushing yards, 210 receiving, 7 total touchdowns. Freshman All-American

Misurelli 34 tackles, 3 intc, 1 ff, 1 fr, Freshman All-American

Watashi 418 passing yards, 3 TD, 2 INT

Capesius 320 rushing, 230 receiving, 12 total touchdowns

Davis punted an average of 42 yards.

PRESEASON RANKINGS:
Ohio St - #4
CU - #5
FSU - #10
Mizzou - #17
Michigan - #7
Texas - #13
Alabama - #20

Capesius, Gray, and Ward are all starters now.
Kurosawa is #5 on a stacked WR group, but looks to be the #2 TE.
Misurelli remains the #2 CB
Bomber is the #2 QB, behind a likely Heisman candidate.
