So, the animation/live action mix of Song of the South makes it ineligible?

According to Disney's site, yes.

Que?

I was going to start fresh at the new year, starting with the last director we left off with and I was going to kick it off with a Disney week.

But, this is fine I guess. However you want to do it.

Sorry about that. I only recall reading E's posts regarding the subject. It's cool, though.

Are you going to continue to run the project? I am not opposed to doing it again, I was just going to hold off until the new year, but if someone else feels strongly about doing it, I don't mind relinquishing the reins.

The Rite of Spring brings Fantasia down a lot. It's mind-numbingly dreadful.

While Rhapsody in Blue and The Firebird Suite are some of the most exhilarating and awesome animated sequences I've ever seen.

Hunchback is a terrible god-awful clunker. Beyond it's animation, which I suppose is serviceable, but hardly expressive, it doesn't work.

What's so great about Hercules? I thought it was unexceptional.

It scores major points from me for having (arguably) the most complex heroine/antiheroine in a Disney film. Meg more than makes up for the intentionally bland, dimwitted protagonist. I also think Hades is an exceptional Disney villain - the perfect blend of humor and malevolance. It has some incredible action sequences with the Hydra and the Titans springing to mind, and all in all it was fun for me to see the mythical Greek world imagined on the big screen.

Yeah most of the more recent Disney animated films on this list I won't be seeing. Its obvious that PIXAR is far suprerior and that even Dreamworks is better. Kinda sad considering how much I love 2D animation, but eventually the new form of technology always takes out the old.

I don't remember my childhood.

Ditto.

Indeed. I didn't realize how little I remember these movies until I actually read through the list.

I refuse to see Chicken Little.
You're a smarter man than I. My old roommate rented it, and I had nothing better to watch. After finishing it, it wa apparent that watching nothing would've been more entertaining.

What's with all the N/A's? Why not just not list those films. That way makes it awful convoluted.

I think the amount of movies Wats would have to enter scared him from completing the project. It's practically like doing three directors not named Hitchcock, Ford, Allen, or Griffith.

I think we're waiting for The Princess and the Frog to come out at the end of next year in order for this consensus to be as all-encompassing as possible. So post away!!!

Bumping this because I've been on a bit of a Disney kick lately, watching many of the classics I've somehow never seen while revisiting others that I haven't seen since I was very young, and I like having all these lists to compare with my reactions. So far, I'm most surprised by my enthusiastic response to 101 Dalmatians proving to be something of a minority position, and pleased to discover that I'm not as alone as I anticipated concerning my unresponsiveness towards Bambi. My ratings only reflect the films I've recently watched:

Dumbo - 7.5
Bambi - 5.0
Lady and the Tramp - 6.5
Sleeping Beauty - 8.5
One Hundred and One Dalmatians - 8.0
The Aristocats - 5.0

He's probably still waiting for the laptop. Dell takes forever to deliver those things.
