A Tribe Called Quest is freaking wonderful.
Both "Midnight Marauders" and "The Low End Theory" have been playing on my iPod non-stop for the last week.
Yes they are. Those two albums are easily two of my most favorite, although I am in the minority and prefer Marauders over Low End.

That's the minority?
Because it's easily my preference as well.

I don't know, just everyone I have talked to seems to prefer Low End, I think the production on Marauders is so much better and that elevates it above.
On another subject, I really like the She & Him album, but then again like most people here I have a crush on Zooey, so it is a biased opinion.

And now I am jealous. Hope they put on a good show for you... I've heard good things about their concerts, though that was during The Mantle days when they strove to be as experimental in the live format as possible (Japanese drums, etc.)

It's at a super small club, too. Should be fun.
I'm glad you've heard good things about them live. I've heard nothing, and was a little apprehensive.
I'm really interested to see what kind of crowd they draw. Will it be metal heads, hipster kids, or ren fair folk?
I wish they would release their new EP on iTunes. I guess I'll have to wait until next Friday to buy it.

Is it sad that I figured he was dead?Until I learned that he recently released a disc (one that I think actually was nominated for a Grammy this year. I donno if it won or not), I thought that he was dead as well. The guy isn't exactly a spring chicken though at 88...

New album out from Irish/Danish rapper tomorrow. It's bloody brilliant. He was a typical gangsta rapper, but on his last album Cassiopeia he suddenly started writing good lyrics and his beats were awesome. On his new double album Melankolia/Xxx Couture, he decided to try something entirely new to him, electro rap. I love it.
Although you won't understand a word of it:
LOC - Xxx Couture (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF7euGkpAzk)
LOC feat. Orgi-E - Sl!k (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S90Vy83IFZ8)

So the new Agalloch E.P. doesn't rock - at all!
It's almost all acoustic, and really folksy.
It sounds more like the Diablo 2 soundtrack than anything...
I think Blizzard should listen to it, maybe they'd get started on Diablo 3 sooner.
I hope they don't play all this acoustic stuff this Friday when I see them.

Art Tatum is the finest pianist this country has ever produced, period.
Evidence One: Yesterdays (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzj6Q61h3oA)
Evidence Two: She's Funny That Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSWCJy9QeNE&feature=related)
Evidence Three: Elegy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNAJlqn0nO4)
Evidence Four: The Definitive Art Tatum Piece: Tiger Rag. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaPeks0H3_s&feature=related) Try to keep up.
Yes, this is only one guy playing. And yes, Art Tatum grew up for the most part blind.
After hearing Art Tatum play, Sergei Rachmoninoff Himself declared Tatum to be the greatest piano player alive.

Dang, the new Sun Kil Moon is awesome so far.
It's available from their website for only $8 as a digital download.
I also ordered a couple copies of the CD.
And I got my tx to see Mark Kozelek perform live in a couple of weeks.
April is going to be an awesome month.
D_Davis

Unlit Hallway, off the new Sun Kil Moon album, is awesome. Kozelek has always possessed an uncanny ability to invoke mood and atmosphere; he creates setting - time and place - through his music, and this song is a great example of this.
I still think the best song he's ever written is Michael, off the first Red House Painters album, but this song is among those that are close to that song's brilliance.

I don't care for Haron Blue on the new SKM album.

It could be a good song in a movie though, I can totally picture it in a dark western of some kind.

These guys are awesome. And what's even more awesome is that Amazon has all of their albums on MP3 for dl. This is a HUGE money saver, as most of their CDs sell for well over $40 now.
Check out their albums, Three Times and Waving and Chasing Promises. They are incredible - a great mix of goth, new wave, post-rock/punk.

It peaks with track 8, Young Cassius, out of 14 tracks. But I guess the last 4 tracks are just bonus tracks or something - the core album is 10 tracks, and it rocks. Tracks 5 and 8 are amazing - as good as 1979 and Asbestos Lead Asbestos.

Mix-Tape Master (109-144 points)
You are a music evangelist: the person in your network of friends who always has the coolest new song, the one whose iPod gets picked to DJ every party. You understand the art of the segue, how the key to the best mix-tape isn't just the songs you pick, but how they interlock with each other. You also know who the up-and-coming acts are and are quick to recognise where their influences lie and whether they will make it big. You work hard at the pursuit of this knowledge, scouring music blogs, magazines and record stores. Most importantly, you are generous with your passion – and your friends should be very, very grateful. Still, it’s always good to get new inspiration for your latest mix.
I'm actually surprised I got this high. And I have to admit, a couple of the ones I got wrong were simply due to haste rather than consideration. But then, some of the ones I got right were luck, so it evens out, I guess.

Birthday Party DJ (73-108 points)
You are a rabid consumer of music. You get a rush every time you hear something new but remain faithful to those artists you love. Your music collection represents who you are and what you care about and your home may even bear the tell-tale signs of your affections – posters, old band t-shirts and the odd music biography. But you aren't a completist, you know what you like and make sure you have it. Simple as that. To expand your repertoire, perhaps there are some genres that you'd benefit from giving a little more attention to – perhaps now is the time to hear something new or get hold of that missing album from your collection.

Air Guitarist (36-72 points)
Music, you believe, isn't so much about knowledge as it is about feeling. Sure, someone might be able to rattle off the recording dates for every Johnny Cash Sun session – so what? That's just academic. Music is your soundtrack to everything: your drive home from work, morning jog and Sunday lunch. However, you'll be the first to admit you aren't very good at going out and discovering new acts and aren't susceptible to the hype, "just gimme the good stuff," we hear you cry. After all, not everyone’s a music expert – if only someone could make some recommendations to help you out.

Bill Monroe and Flat & Scruggs are the obvious choices.
I've been meaning to look further into it, as well, along with Western Swing that isn't Bob Wills - who I love - if such a thing even exists. There's a song by John Hartford that lists literally hundreds of bluegrass musicians and I've been meaning to find the lyrics and track down the most intriguing.

I took an inventory this morning of my CDs.
So far, I've recorded:
3 live albums
5 full length albums
6 E.P.s
For a total of 14 Cds.
Only 6 more until I reach my goal of 20, and then I can release my box set.
:)
I started working on the newest album last weekend.

Thanks, I'll look into those.

Anyone here listen to Marconi Union?
Their album Distance is brilliant.
Apparently, these are the guys that Eno hired to supervise the remastering of all of his early ambient music - based off of one album.
This album offers some of the densest, most textured ambient music I've heard.
It reminds me of all the good stuff of Tortoise's best, mixed with the best of Mouse on Mars.
However, this is not to say that they are simply riffing off of these bands. They definitely have their own style.
I listened to the album 4 times in a row this morning while eating and reading. It is cyclical in nature. There is a common sonic thread running through the tracks. It's almost as if the album has no beginning or end.
It is quite brilliant.
It is the perfect partner to Bruce Kaphan's Slider. Both of these albums are a couple of years old, and I can't believe I haven't heard more people talk about them.

Is anyone else watching the Radiohead special on Vh1 where they perform In Rainbows live in a studio? I sadly missed the first 18 minutes but I'm still checking it out regardless. That album rocks, and is largely the reason I'm quickly becoming a fan of the band (I also recently listened to The Bends, which is a solid earlier disc). Plus I've also heard stuff off of their other albums as well.
It's a shame that Kasim Sulton's solo career, for the most part, consists entirely of pretty bland "adult contemporary" stuff. Still, sucka's got some dulcet pipes. His live stuff on youtube is much better than his studio stuff.

Just D/L'ed it.
It's pretty good. Definitely better than "With Teeth", but not near the brilliance of "Year Zero".
He needs to stop recycling the same sound over and over. He often finds new sounds which he then uses for a few albums afterwards. Some neat new sounds on "Year Zero" are just sounding boring and repetitive here on "The Slip".

I realize I'm about a year late with this, but I bought Neon Bible by The Arcade Fire.
I don't know if I get all the love. They can certainly write some good songs with good hooks, but it's a little too overly theatrical for me. Everything is very "dramatic". Also, they need to cut the reliance on synths in half, at least.
It's only been one listen, so I might warm up to it.

I recently purchased the remastered version of Depeche Mode's Violator. I hadn't listened to the album in years, and I was immediately struck by how complex and nuanced the compositions are. There really isn't a bad song on the album, and over half of the tracks are extraordinary. While I remembered this album as being little more than an above average synthpop outing, in truth it is closer to a masterpiece of modern pop. It is moody, mature, memorable, and atmospheric.

I just listened to this after a long time.
I agree that it's a classic. Actually, every song is excellent but there's something about this album that doesn't appeal to me much. The negatives: Overproduced, too much synth, the lead singer's monotone voice. Are there any drums on this? I like the second singer more - my favorite song is the one that goes "Put it on..." - towards the end. I like my singers to be somewhat emotive.
So after this I put on New Order's Power Corruption and Lies. Talk about a balanced album! Synth, guitar, bass, drums, voice are all equally represented and while the lead singer's voice isn't the best it's still pretty emotive and shows good range. My fave New Order album.

Only electronic drums. They play keyboards and do programming, with very little acoustic instrumentation. That's just the kind of band they are. Like The Pet Shop Boys, or Erasure...

Yeah, weird really. Some of his stuff prior to that, tho, sounds really dated. I can probably count the artists who dabble in and out of the so-called "industrial" genre (as MBM was doing for awhile) whose music has aged well, probably, with one hand. Lessee... Front 242, Frontline Assembly, uh...
But I think the reason that MBM in particular has stood the test of time is 1) he sounds like no-one else and 2) he mixes other genres (jazz, hip-hop, dub) into the mix to great effect and 3) he can drum-program like a motherfucker.
D_Davis

Yeah - most industrial music pretty much sounds like crap now.
It's really hard to listen to it now.
I can still listen to some Front 242 and Skinny Puppy, every once in a great while.
While MBM started off in this genre, they quickly moved into territories more akin to hip hop, and like good hop hop, Danger is always pushing forward. To me, they always had more in common with Public Enemy than Nitzer Ebb or Ministry and stuff like that. Jack Danger is the blackest white man I know of!
Imagine him working with Dr. Dre...that would be awesome.

Man, music just doesn't get any better than this new Farflung record.
I can't believe how brilliant it is.
While the band was previously known for longer compositions (sometimes approaching and exceeding the 20-minute mark) on this album they've dialed the length way back (the longest track is under 7-minutes), but they've crammed each song with all of the elements that made their epic space rock songs so amazing.
Each song is mini-masterpiece, a mini-epic, of astronomically awesome space rock.
I almost feel bad for other bands in the genre, because Farflung has raised the bar as high as the sun.

They've put out some pretty amazing albums, but nothing touches this newest one. It's like they've elevated their craft to an all new level of greatness.

How so?
It's loud, abrasive, unrelenting rock n' roll. The Flips use to be a far more guitar driven band. On this album, they are joined by a dude named Dingus (who is really Johnathan Donahue of Mercury Rev, who also used to be a far more guitar driven rock-band), and he plays his trademarked Harmony Rockets guitar sound. You've never heard guitar tone this balls-out distorted.
Shine on Sweet Jesus, Unconsciously Screaming, and God Walks Among Us Now, are three of the best rock songs I've ever heard.
The album after this, Hit to Death in the Future Head, is also pretty amazing.
After this, Donahue left the band to focus on Mercury Rev, and he was replaced by Ronald, one of the most kick ass guitarists I've heard. He stayed in the band for 2 albums, and left to walk the Earth on a spiritual journey to find God.
After he left, the band continued on as a three piece, and they started experimenting more with prerecorded sounds. Their next proper album The Soft Bulletin, was far too orchestrated and ornate to be performed live by only three dudes, so they started using videos of themselves as a kind of virtual backing band.
Steven Drozd, their drummer, began playing more guitar and keyboard live, and they ended up hiring a new drummer. Their new drummer is good, but nothing compares to seeing Drozd play live - best drummer I've ever seen.
Also, once Ronald left, the band started experimenting with taped sound, and they performed a series of concerts in which the band "conducted" an "orchestra" of car stereos and boom-boxes each loaded with tapes of various noises and song parts.
While I love their current craziness, I do miss the days when they were just a 4-piece rock band that kicked ass.

Just get the best of collections, and Lords of Light. I've got about 20 of their albums, and the only 3 I ever listen to are Silver Machine and Psychedelic Warlords (both comps) and Lords of Light. The rest of the albums have a TON of filler, maybe 1 or 2 songs worth a listen. Space Ritual is okay as well, but it's live and the sound quality isn't so great.

Yeah - good description.
Drozd is just a monster behind the drums. I once saw him hit his snare so hard that he actually broke the rim. Of course he plays with sticks the size of small logs...

Lost tapes of the Dr Who composer
By Nigel Wrench
PM programme, Radio 4
A hidden hoard of recordings made by the electronic music pioneer behind the Doctor Who theme has been revealed - including a dance track 20 years ahead of its time.
...
Most unexpected of all, however, is a piece of music that sounds like a contemporary dance track which was recorded, it is believed, in the late sixties.
Paul Hartnoll, formerly of the dance group Orbital and a great admirer of Ms Derbyshire's work, said the track was, "quite amazing".
"That could be coming out next week on [left-field dance label] Warp Records," he noted.
"It's incredible when you think when it comes from. Timeless, really. It could be now as much as then."
Delia Derbyshire's voice can be heard introducing it. "Forget about this," she says, "it's for interest only."

So how come Sonic Youth's early work sounds so much more invigorating and beautiful than their later work? Surely some of you will respond that they hadn't yet found their style yet, but there's something undeniably awesome about Sister in its entirety, whereas it's a struggle for me to wade through Dirty.
Happily, though, Portishead is rocking my world. How's the new one compare to the first two albums?
D_Davis

I'm just the opposite.
I struggle with everything pre-Sister. To me, it's a bunch of noise. There is no structure, little melody, few hooks. It's like meandering noodling.
Sister starts to get interesting, and we start to hear the brilliance of what is to come.
And then BAM! The Daydream Nation/Goo double punch. Two of the best rock albums I've ever heard.

And me, I'm neither. I like it all. They are a great band, start to finish. You give up halfway through their discography, you miss out on the awesomeness of the ATL --> NYG&F --> MS --> SN quartet. Fail to give the early days their due, you miss out on spooky, background jam greatness.

I don't know what the kids are using these days. I get all of my stuff from iTunes or Amazon MP3 downloads. At less than $10 an album, and with the selection getting better every day, I can't complain.
There were some things that were unavailable to buy as ddl, and I did use Soulseek.
Why does it suck now?

It's not old-fashioned, just silly not to download. It makes sense if only to be able to try out a larger variety of music than you would if you paid for it all. If you like an album, buy it afterwards. Personally I have no use for CDs in the IPod age and since I'm a white person, I can further justify my "testing the waters" with the money I spend on concerts, t-shirts and vinyl.

Will they still call the full release an album?I guess they might not, but so long as bands continue to record and release multiple tracks simultaneously, meant to be heard in a certain order, I'd imagine they'll still be termed albums. If not by everyone, there'll still be some elitist assholes who insist on it (count me among them!).
However, I do believe we might see more singles-oriented bands pop up as that becomes a primary distribution method.

Honestly if the future is singles only, I probably will stop buying music altogether. Unless I can still get some CDs, somewhere. I like albums, and I'm not a big fan of singles anyways. That sounds like a rather crappy future to me, one that will be increasingly dominanted by crappy, manufactured pop acts that only annoy the piss of me and don't contribute anything of worth. So I "tried out" for that band today - good stuff. I'm pretty sure I "made it," and the dudes are cool. They've got a nice little indie-rock sound, kind of like early Elvis Costello, Guided By Voices, and Sebadoh.
It was fun playing in a band again. They just finished an album and their bass player left, so they are looking for someone to replace him. They want to do a CD release party in October.

They (you?) have a nice sound. The singer's voice has a lot of potential, once it gets a bit more confidence in it. And yeah, he totally has an Elvis Costello sound to it.

Thanks.
Yeah, I like their sound. At first I heard Lou Barlow in the dude's voice, but then I started to hear Elvis Costello; both influences are good IMO. I got a copy of their CD they just recorded, and it has some really good stuff on it. They want to do a CD release party in October/November, so we'll just be learning these songs until then. After this, we hope to start writing stuff as a band, and this way I can introduce a little more of my own creativity into the project.
It feels really good to be playing with some dudes again. It's been a long time since I've been in a proper band. These guys also seem to be on the same page as I am: married, good jobs, house payments - we're all adults with responsibilities and realistic expectations. We're all around the same age, I think I'm the youngest by a year or two, so I guess this also makes us kind of like Guided By Voices: older dudes indie-rock.
I think the best thing is that even after one practice we really seem to get along. We all have similar sense of humor, no one is a hardcore atheist or anti-religious (which is something I think is important - they actually asked me if I had any religious ties they could make fun of while declaring their own: non-practicing Jew and liberal Episcopalian), they like thoughtful melodic music, and we just seemed to hit it off.
Good stuff, I am excited.

Sweet. Here's hoping that you can inject your own personality into the band's sound. I listened to that Girls Shouldn't Kill Themselves track, and the only place I'd ding them would be with the baseline, which for the most part seemed to mimic the guitar, and wasn't a groove/beat tool like I feel basslines should be.

I hear ya. Their bassist left right before they recorded, and so the producer played and came up with most of the basslines in the studio. They pretty much want me to learn the songs as they were recorded because this is what they are used to now, of course I will play them with my own flourishes and style. I am totally cool with this. I understand that these are their songs, and once we start writing stuff together then I can bring more of my own thing to the dynamic.
So far, my favorite tracks are Clouds Parts II & III, and Holding Up the Vanguard. We played these at the practice, and they sounded really good.
These guys remind me a lot of the last serious band I was in, in terms of music, dynamic, and personality. It feels like coming home, which is good.

I've been listening to Paul's Boutique all morning. Man, this album still sounds like it's from the future. It's pretty incredible to think that hip hop really hasn't progressed much since this release, at least in terms of production.
I'll never forget buying this tape in 8th grade. I, like everyone else when I was in 6th grade, loved the Beastie Boys, and then they just dropped off the face of the planet.
Three years later, while looking for some music to buy at Long's Drugs (the same Long's Drugs that I would eventually by my first CD at, New Order's Technique), I stumbled upon a new BB's album.
I'll never forget that cassette - it was black, and the label on it was a sticker with rainbow edges. I bought it, listened to it, and immediately fell in love with it. It blew my mind - never had I heard anything like it. I listened to it every morning for almost a year while I delivered news papers.
It's one of those life-changing albums, that's for sure.

So far, the new Verve album is pretty good. Not as sonically dense or as adventurous as the E.P. and A Storm in Heaven, it is better-produced than A Northern Soul and more interesting than Urban Hymns. Ashcroft continues to argue why he may be the best vocalist of modern rock, and Nick McCabe continues to give the Edge a run for his money with his beautiful phrasing and technique.
It's definitely not a quick cash-in reunion album; there is a lot of though put into this. It is, thankfully, not a series of radio-friendly singles staged to sell singles. It feels like a proper album. I can't imagine any Verve fan being disappointed, and they've actually wrangled me back into the fold.

So this Byrne and Eno album contains some of the best stuff either of these guys have ever done, and as a whole it ranks among their very, very best. I am stunned by how good it is. If you like Brian Eno, David Byrne, Talking Heads, exquisitely produced pop songs with a sonic edge sharp enough to slice through anything, and thought provoking lyrics, get it - now. It so mature, and so far beyond anything I've heard in a very, very long time.

I think the new Verve album is really good. I'd rank it right after the E.P. and A Storm in Heaven. Valium Skies is an excellent track, one of the strongest songs they've written. Numbness is epic, and it is a wonderful homage to Pink Floyd - it even references parts of Breathe. With a little more reverb, Columbo could have easily appeared along side Gravity Grave and A Man Called Sun; actually, it almost sounds like a reprise of A Man Called Sun. Judas is a beautiful pop song with a fantastic bass groove. The only tracks I don't care for are Noise Epic and Mama Soul.
I am very impressed with this album, and I hope this sets the foundation for what could be a very interesting future for the band. It's the brightest their future has looked in a long time.

Awesome. I'm with you in thinking the EP and A Storm in Heaven are the best things they've done, so I'm psyched to check out the new album. I have it but I'm waiting for the right mood to strike. The Pink Floyd comment will probably force me to stop hesitating. :)
Right now, I'm still obsessed with the new {{{Sunset}}} album, The Glowing City, which is blowing me away, especially considering how great his other album from this year was. 18 songs and almost all of them are brilliantly crafted pop songs. I think you might dig him D as some of the songs have a definite shoegaze influence, though really it's all over the place which is what I love about it. My favorite track at the moment is "Life Is Rad (Just Say Yes) (http://www.last.fm/music/{{{Sunset}}}/_/Life+is+Rad+(Just+Say+Yes))".

I was thinking about snapping in some percussive fills and playing with some filters, but for now, this will do. It's short!

I've uploaded The Tubes's Remote Control to what.cd
All who can should nab. It's of that particular kind of pop that rests on the precipice of 70s and 80s arena styles. Lots of cool chord progressions, strong melodies, full sound, bombastic. Give it a go! (please)

Is that the album with the song Totally Nude? Man, that was one catchy tune. Especially for me, being that I was probably in 5th or 6th grade when it came out.

Rubber Soul gets a ****x like, 5. There should be no debate.

Unfortunately not. I'll have to check out some more of these guys, though, because this album and their (awesome) number on the Xanadu soundtrack is all I know of their work and I love it all.

Motorpsycho's Little Lucid Moments...wow.
4 songs, 60 minutes of pure sonic mastery, expertly crafted progressive rock, conjuring the likes of Sonic Youth, Monster Magnet, krautrock, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Hawkwind.

I'm actually glad that the Modest Mouse album gets a ****, as the one before that was somewhat disappointing. All this reminds me that I have roughly a gazillion CD reviews that I scribbled down and then never posted in my CD review thread.

Wow, so I think I've discovered one of my new favorite bands with Motorpsycho. I can't believe I've never heard these dudes before. Absolutely stunning progressing-rock. Luckily for me they have a very extensive back catalog of music to sift through.
See, this is exactly why I love the whole Mixtape idea...someday, you'll include a Motorpsycho tune on one of those mixes and..even if only one other person really, really loves it: it will have totally been worth the effort.
Y'know?

Dude, you've gotta check out Little Lucid Moments - I think you'll dig the hell out of it. It was a total blind (deaf?) buy for me, and it was worth every penny. The shortest song on the album is 11 minutes....
It appears that they have shorter songs on their previous albums.

I love making mixes with CDs featuring different songs from my music collection. My goal is to one day make an 80s mix full of some of the best 80s pop ever.

First the Philip K Dick thing and now this, Madman, I think you should start setting yourself loftier goals.

I'm just now checking out my second Motorpsycho album - Black Hole/Blank Canvas. They have 14 albums (again, why am I just discovering this band? 14 albums, and I've never even heard of these dudes? Where have I been? Where is the hype? A band this amazing, with this extensive of a back catalog deserves a massive audience) and from what I gather, they've really evolved as a band. This album was recorded a few years before Little Lucid Moments, and just looking at the tracks I can tell it is quite different. LLM contains 4 tracks, each over 11 minutes, where as this album contains 17 tracks, with the longest barely over 8 minutes. BH/BC seems a little more pop-orientated, and I am not sure yet how all of the songs add up to a complete listening experience.

Black Hole/Blank Canvas is not quite as good as Little Lucid Moments, but it does contain some awesome songs. I am far more impressed with the compositions on LLM, and the band uses the length of the songs to great effect. They are epic, and never over stay their welcome. On BH/BC, Motorpsycho uses shorter songs, much shorter, and I miss the epic quality. However, many of songs are jam-packed with little moments of brilliance.
Stand out tracks: No Evil, Hyena, The Ace and Before the Flood.
Because these songs are shorter, and are more reliant upon a more traditional rock-song structure, they also contain more lyrics - and this is the bands biggest fault. While the vocals themselves are fine, their lyrics are really bad. They are a Norwegian band and they sing in English, but I doubt that English is their first language. Much like Eggstone, a Swedish pop-punk band, and other Scandinavian psych-bands, Motorpsycho's English language lyrics are trite; they often go for the easy rhyme and end up sounding sound childish, which often contradicts the complex nature of their music.
However, musically the band continues to impress the hell out of me. They are definitely working on a level that far too few rock bands are. I ended up picking up another album this morning, It's a Love Cult, and once again I am blown away by their sound. On this album they've incorporated more acoustic instruments, as well as horns and strings, for a more lively, almost jammy sound, offset by droned out grooves ala Neu! and other Krautrock acts.
Hearing each new album is exciting, because I never know what to expect. These dudes are able to do so much, and it appears as if they tackle each new project as a totally blank slate with which they continually rewrite the rules that govern their music.
It is so exciting to discover a band like this - a band that is on par with King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Sonic Youth, and other purveyors of dense sonic mastery.
Absolutely stunning.
I hope some of you check them out - they seem to be relatively "undiscovered" here in the states. At least it seems that way to me.

So Rubber Soul is good, but I was kind of disappointed. Too much pop music man, even for me. I'm starting to think that I really prefer the Beatles when they branched out from standard, traditional pop music and created something much deeper, cooler, and well, better. Still the album gets ***, and I look forward to hearing more of their work. I've gone through three of their albums so far.
