View Full Version : Jason Statham is Frank Miller's DAREDEVIL??

While promoting Death Race at Comic Con, Jason Statham said he would "love" to play The Man Without Fear, quickly followed by Frank Miller agreeing.

Here is an excerpt from an LA Times article (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2008/07/jason-statham-i.html)...

Statham said he is eager to work with Miller at some point and that he adores the Daredevil character. I made the mistake of asking Statham if might not make a better Bullseye than Matt Murdock and I thought he might hit me with his pint glass. "Forget Bullseye, I want to be Daredevil!" Miller nodded. "I think he should be Daredevil too."

I've been saying for a long time that Daredevil is a hot property worth adapting into a proper film adaptation.

I thought the first one was an overall mediocre film, but had some very, very good stuff in it.

I have yet to see Statham do anything that really showed him as a versatile actor, nor have I seen him play a convincing American accent.

But still, if this means the gears are turning on a new installment, I'm all for it.

Quickly followed by me whining.

Casting Statham as Matt Murdock is like casting Michael Cera as Captain America.

Michael Cera would be a good choice for a pre-Super Soldier Serum Steve Rogers.

He's got the look down pat, but has he got the acting chops, charm and charisma?

It's a similar situation with Neal McDonough...

...looks like he was pulled out of the pages of the comic book, but I really don't think he could carry a movie on his own.

I think that dude's a pretty good actor. He plays an all American, right-leaning lawyer on Boston Legal. Haven't seen him in anything else.

Neal McDonough was fantastic in Band of Brothers. But I don't believe I've seen him in anything else.

Wasn't he in Ravenous?

Bit player though.

Yeah, he was in Ravenous and Minority Report - those are the two places I know him from most.

He was also in Star Trek: First Contact. His character was written (and even filmed) as being "Star Trek"'s first gay character, but they ended up cutting the scenes that elaborated this part of his character.

Indeed he was. Other than Ravenous and Band or Brothers, the only other thing I've seen him in was Boomtown.

So now that the Hulk has done well, does this gaurantee a franchise reboot for all the heroes they failed at adapting?

Wait, the new Hulk did do well didn't it?

Not really. It made between $130-$140 million, and its budget was $150 million.

However, despite this, Marvel says they fully plan on making another Hulk movie.

McDonough was Dockworker #2 in Darkman.

Really? I read on Yahoo that the Hulk franchise was done. But I'd love to see another Hulk movie, especially one with The Leader, and from what happens near the end of the movie, we might see him in the next movie...IF there's a next movie.

I don't think they'll make another one. I really, really doubt it. Two strikes is enough.

They'll score at least another $100 mil on home video though, right. So another one is plausible.

Frank Miller probably gets what he wants these days and so JS as DD it is.

David Slade has signed on to direct a new Daredevil film.

The rumor mill has already begun, wondering if Robert Pattinson will play the Man With No Fear.

The action sequences were the best scenes in Eclipse. He's a good choice.

Here's hoping they pick someone good to be Murdoch, though. Pearce would be great and revive his career, and as miscast as the title suggests, Statham would at least be badass.

Only name I've heard thrown around for this is Garrett Hedlund, which even though I've liked the movies I've seen him in, he hasn't necessarily been a big standout or come off as having the sort of charisma needed for something like this.

But he already turned down Captain America and it's not 100% certain that a third Tron is getting made right away, so taking on Daredevil would be a good move for him.

I just want someone other than David Goyer to write a comic book movie for once.

The guy can't write dialogue or characterization to save his life.

Is Frank Miller still involved? It doesn't matter what else happens if Miller is involved, because it'll likely stink.

Don't know.

At least he's not involved in the same capacity he hinted at way back, when he wanted to write and direct it.

FOX and Marvel talk swap!!!!!!

Sources say marvel would give Fox more time to make "Daredevil" in return for the rights to use characters from the "Fantastic Four" universe, including the giant, world-devouring supervillain, Galactus, rumored to play a key role in future Marvel pics. Marvel is also eyeing future use of the Silver Surfer, who in the comicbooks brokered a deal to serve as Galactus herald in order to save his home planet"

Fox needs to start filming Daredevil by October 10th for the rights to stay with them.
