I just saw this on DVDBeaver. The AE version is clearly superior - even the menus are better. What a let down. The extras are cool though. Not sure it is worth the price, however. Well, I am sure actually. It is not.

I checked out a few minutes and it looks pretty good; certainly better than we've come to expect from Facets. It was delayed for over 6 months while being remastered, so it looks like they're trying to avoid the disaster that was their Werkmeister release.

Given the DVDBeaver review, I would say it looks good for a Facets release, but is inferior to the Artificial Eye version. AE has its problems, they are no Criterion, but they are among the cream of the cop.

I'm hoping it's more of a Werckmeister Harmonies sort of movie and less of a Damnation (which really pushed it in the all style, no substance category for me).

And also, how about that Lee Kang-sheng! I didn't know he was a director too aside from being one of the better actors working today. I can't wait to see Help Me Eros. It sounds absolutely wonderful.

The DVD quality of Satantango is pretty good though a bit on the dark side as seems to be standard with Facets DVDs.
