I watched this (not by choice) at a friends house the other night on demand. It has the most ridiculous plot line I've ever seen in a movie, even by sci-fi standards, and is by far IMO the worst Jerry Bruckheimer production I've ever seen. I'd rather watch Black Hawk Down, Kangaroo Jack and any other Cage bruck/movie...

Spoiler for parts of the film that bug the crap outta me

They have somehow developed a window (and a portal) into the past where they can literally go anywhere and see anything that has happened four days ago. However, everything they witness is in REAL TIME, which means they can't pause or rewind what they are currently seeing... (you would think they would have other cameras setup or something)

The part that becomes the most ridiculous is the team that controls this windows through time is so tiny, you would think they would have 1000 people working on this project, helping to solve any crime that was ever committed (Minority Report style). At one point they actually send Denzel back through time to stop the terrorist events from occurring, why didn't they just do this to begin with?

I rather liked this film. Probably my favorite Tony Scott film. Ridiculous, yes. But still, the style felt somewhat reigned in and even if the time travel was complete nonsense (if he'a changing the future then he'll never go to her house and see the fridge... nevermind), I rather liked the film's determined look at the individual life and it may be my favorite performance by Washington.

Well, they explained it had never been tested with a human and as Adam Goldberg said, he very likely wouldn't survive (he wouldn't have had they not sent him to the hospital).

I thought it was utterly mediocre. The likes of Black Hawk Down and The Rock annihilate Deja Vu. Heck, I'll take Armageddon if I had to choose.

Of course you mean "my favorite performance by Washington in a Scott movie right?

Please?

Yuck.

Sort of, I guess. I mean, I suppose I like him more in Devil in a Blue Dress and maybe in Glory, but I really did think he gave a rather effective, earthly performance here. He seemed quite vulnerable.

Agreed!

At first whey they were talking about the 7 orbiting satellites that can see through walls because of their inferred sensors i almost starting laughing. That's 1000x worse than a gatling gun in space. Then denzel uses a laser pointer on the screen!!

I found this immensely dull. The time travel logic makes no sense, it's ridiculous, the movie doesn't even follow its own rules.

Hm. I guess I sort of take Denzel being the high point in any movie for granted.:)

Considering how much I disliked Domino (a bad film that I should have fully enjoyed) I quite like Deja Vu. His style worked for the film instead of against it.
